Customer Reviews
Don't buy!
I purchased the whirlpool duet steam gas dryer and the whirlpool duet steam washer. This is a review of the Whirlpool duet steam washer. I was initially, very excited about the arrival of my new washer. I have 2 kids and do A LOT of laundry, plus my husband and I go to the gym often, so we have double the amount of clothes to wash. Initially, I liked the fact that I could fit almost double the amount of laundry easily into this new washer than my previous maytag. Now that I have been using it for 3 months, I can tell you without any hesitation that I absolutely hate it. The 2 biggest issues are that it does not wash your clothes properly, they do not smell or appear clean and 2. it takes FOREVER to wash them. I use the extra soil option along with the deep clean option, this alone will take an hour and 20 minutes, the normal cycle takes 50 minutes for a regular cycle, but I always opt for heavy soil for he reason mentioned above which takes 60 minutes. I use the Tide HE and snuggle fabric softener, yet my clothes come out of the dryer smelling moldy. Also after washing your clothes, they are often tangled up in the washer as you remove them, especially jeans, long pants or long sleeve shirts (even very small cycles). I use the clean cycle more than recommended hoping that this will help (it doesn't), I have cut my loads in half to make them smaller thinking maybe that was the problem (it wasn't). it makes no difference, espeically thicker items such as bath towels. This never happened with my old school maytag. It takes me 2 days to my laundry and I wash clothes 2 times per week. I wish I could be writing a positive review encouraging you to buy it, but unfortunatley, that is not the case. This washer (and dryer) is/are very expensive. In this economy, don't waist your money like we did. sorry.
