Solid Performers
The good wife bought this set for me, and it is surprising in two ways - I can't believe how long the NiCad battery lasts in the drill, and how brief it lasts in the saw. Really, it seems like the drill can't be driven dead even after dozens of 9 X 3.5" deck screws. I went through almost an entire box! The battery is like every horror movie monster you can think of - it just will not die... until you put the same battery in the saw.
Lordy! Throw fifteen 2 X 4's at the fully charged battery and we are talking doornail dead. Yeah, it's nice to not have a cord and I didn't think I was abusing the saw - I was letting the saw move at the pace it wanted to chew through the wood and before you know it, just nothing. I am going to try plywood next and a different blade made for plywood and see how many feet I can get.
If you are going to do even half-serious ripping get more batteries and keep them charged. You will need it with this battery-sucking mini-monster of a saw.
Ok but.....
I've been using this set to build a small house. The drill chuck has not stayed tight since the drill was new. It has gotten worse now and I've had it for 14 mos. The batteries hold up fairly well but the circular saw drains a battery more quickly than higher end products.
Best Deal
Received the reconditioned drill. circular saw and battery with charger for under $70. Works great , is like new. Saved over $200. Would buy again.
