Deneuve in 5 wonderful transfers4
FORT SAGANNE is a long, grand epic which must be seen in widescreen. It's really a Gerard Depardieu movie
and he is magnificent as a legionnaire in French-occupied Sahara. LE SAUVAGE is a romantic comedy which is one of my favorite Deveuve films. Catherine Deneuve necessarily enters runaway Yves Montand's placid life
and wreaks havoc. Chemistry again in LE CHOC with Alain Delon as a professional hitman who meets Deneuve when he is hiding out. I had not seen HOTEL DES AMERIQUES before. While I still enjoyed this drama, I could not eventually understand the stubborn fascination of the Deneuve character with Patrick Dewaere (who died tragically young in real life). In MANON 70, Deneuve cannot commit to any one man till she meets Sami Frey, then . . .

Here's hoping Lionsgate produces and releases a collection of films starring another French legend -
Michele Morgan.

Terrific transfers, great films!5
After I couldn't get through to the amazon site (my ISP had connection problems), I purchased the C.D. set locally and have already watched most of it. The transfer to DVD is really good, with rich color and crystal-clear images. Although most of the footage is English-subtitled, I had no problem enjoying what I have watched of the five movies. Nice packaging, too!

Career Spanning4
WOW, what a timeless & ageless beauty! Amazing...this 5-DVD box set spans Ms Deneuve's career from 1968-1984. These five films are completely unrelated and also five uniquely different characters. Admittedly, there were also five different directors too. The viewer can see a young Catherine in Manon 70 (1968) and a more mature Ms Deneuve in Fort Saganne (1984).

Unfortunately, I am an American and so I never saw any of these in the theater on a big screen nor have I seen them on TV..so as far as image quality & audio are concerned, well I can't comment. They seemed ok to me but I'm no audiophile. I played a couple films on my big 100" screen with my Cinego D-1000 projector and the others were viewed on NIKO OTP-3211W 32" LCD with Humax DRT800 TiVo & Sony 5.1ch Surround.

For the record, the last film...titled "Fort Saganne" is headlined by an amazing performance by Gerard Depardieu.

All in all, it's a good buy! Seriously...you're getting five movies for $26.00 & free shipping, what's not to like?
