Once connected to your network, the device automatically handles requests from all the Macs and PCs in your office, allowing them to print, scan, and fax seamlessly.
Fast Print Speeds and Outstanding Output
With crisp black output at 2400 x 600 dpi, the MFC-7440N will make certain that no one will be straining their eyes to read your latest report. And with the prints coming out at a speedy 23 pages per minute, you won't have to wait for them either. The printer includes 32 MB of memory and has a maximum monthly duty cycle of 10,000 pages.
Flexible Paper Handling with 250-Sheet Input Capacity
The MFC-7440N features a 250-sheet paper tray that can be adjusted for both letter and legal size paper. Other media, such as envelopes and labels, can be fed through the single-sheet bypass slot. Thanks to a 35-page auto document feeder, you can copy, fax, and scan multiple pages without standing around manually swapping pages. The copier also lets you reduce and enlarge from 25 to 400 percent of the original, and you can put two or four sheets on one page. The copier also supports a sorting function.
A built-in 14.4k bps fax modem lets you fax documents at speeds of up to six seconds per page. The device supports Caller ID, out-of-paper reception, external TAD interface, distinctive ring detection, auto fax reduction, fax forwarding, automatic redial, dual access, and fax broadcasting of up to 258 locations at once. Built-in memory allows the device to store up to 500 pages in memory for faxing.
Scan Photographs, Images, and Documents
The MFC-7440N lets you scan photographs and pictures at a resolution of up to 19200 x 19200 dpi (600 x 2400 dpi optical) at 48-bit color depth for integrating high-quality images into your documents. With the included OCR software for both Windows and Mac, you can also easily change paper documents into editable digital copies.
The Brother MFC-7440N Laser Multi-Function Center with Networking measures 21.7 x 20.1 x 20.5 inches (WxDxH) and is Energy Star compliant. It is backed by a 1-year manufacturer's warranty.

Great machine, except paper jams every time
I bought this machine under 2 weeks ago, and sadly I am going to need to return it, because I can't get it to not jam on paper. The only way I can print is to manually feed each piece of paper one by one. Otherwise, it grabs several papers at the same time, printing part of a sheet on one and part on others, and often jamming up. I have tried different types of papers, different weights, the different feeders, read the manuals and the troubleshooting, and it hasn't made a difference.
Otherwise, the machine seems great. I had trouble-free installation on 2 XP computers, the scan quality is great, the print quality is very good when you put it at the higher level, crisp blacks. I would like to be able to keep it, but I can't be expected to be my printer's page-feeder for every document.
excellent all-in-one
I have owned this printer for a few months and have been very happy with it. It works very well with a mac, it's very easy to use and the printing quality is great. The scanner works well too and its really easy to scan or make photocopies. It's very compact and takes as little desk space as an all-in-one can take.
Especially for mac users, I think brother all-in-one's are the best ones.
For the price it's not too bad
This Brother all-in-one is a replacement for my HP all-in-one (7310) and a HP Laser printer. The Brother is slower in initial printing (start-up) then my HP laser printer but once it gets going it's pretty quick (they say 23 pages per minute) but I think it's a little slower than that. It's quick in making copies and the quality of the print is good to excellent. For the price tag of $239.00 it's worth the price (HP has an all-in-one for about the same price). This Brother all-in-one was very easy to connect to my wireless home network (much easier and quicker than HP in that respect). The scan soft software that is included is OK, not the best but it's free and included. I gave this machine a 4 star (it's probably closer to a 3 star) but then I tend to be on the generous side when evaluating products.
