The closest you'll ever feel to actually being in a zombie movie...
Let me preface this review by saying, before you play through it and get frustrated by how difficult the game is, how crappy the guns are (and the weapons in general), and how some of the scenarios seem impossible for the humans to win, seriously think about what it is to exist within the zombie universe. You wouldn't think that mindless zombies could win against fully-intelligent human beings, and yet every movie ends the same way. Every human brain ends up on the menu. Despite being in a fully-secure facility complete with a full arsenal, the zombies are going to eventually win every time. Buildings will be infiltrated, guns will run out of bullets after only a few shots, and chainsaws will fall apart. The tension of a zombie movie is not whether good will destroy evil. The tension is all about how long will you be able to survive. The end is always inevitable.

Now, if you keep the right frame of mind when you play this game, then you will seriously enjoy yourself, as this game is very loyal in adherence to the rules of the zombie world. The supply of zombies is endless, but the human supply is very much not. If you are the human player(s), you will sometime feel as there there is no hope in the world for winning, and this is what it must feel like to actually be a character surrounded by hordes of zombies. This game is intense, but not in the same way that you feel like players are messing with you in other games (although the zombie player often does). The key to remember is that it's all about careful strategizing, as the game is more complex than the small rulebook may seem. The main thing to focus on for both players is to get through your respective decks as much as you can. If you're the zombie, play every card in your hand, even if the advantage isn't clear at first. If you're the human, at least one or two people need to constantly be searching for new items and events. Even if one of you seems like you're an invincible killing machine, that's just when you're the most vulnerable. If you love zombies, then you have to have this game. I believe that Congress is passing that law as we speak...

Make the greatest zombie board game even better.
I'm going to make the short. If you own Last Night on Earth, you need to buy this. The art style is exactly as fantastic as the main game, the new characters are balanced and fun and the addition of more zombies is never a bad thing. There are a few new rules that add genuine depth and the added scenario is deeper and more challenging than the originals.

To remind you: if you have LNoE, buy this now. You can even fit (most of) the pieces of both sets in the Growing Hunger box. If you don't have the main game, buy this AND Last Night on Earth.

The Zombie Horde is nearly infallible!
I've loved playing Arkham Horror for a while, but the bookkeeping is a PITA. Last Night On Earth is much easier, faster paced, and an excellent amount of fun for zombie lovers all around. So far everyone that I've exposed this game to has been in considerable enjoyment and surprise at how fun it is.
