Album Description
The Outsider has been all about commitment: From Walter's desire to create songs that speak to the soul as well as the mind, the producer (John Porter), who added his musical experience creating a partnership in finding the best possible expression for Walter's intentions, to the musicians who each in their own expert way added a unique and strong statement - there has been a unique sense of team work throughout, filling Walter with a thankfulness to be able to surround himself with people of so much talent. Walter Trout is a blues guitarist, singer and songwriter of his own band.
Review
BluesArtStudio-
The Outsider gives more than a glimpse of what John Mayall, PeeWee Crayton, Lowell Fulson & Joe Tex saw & heard in Walter.
Blues Matters-
As always with Walter's work the songs are such that they set your feet a moving as the catchy music gets right inside of you. How he masters that balance is part of his excellence as a writer. I heartily recommend this album to everyone.
Music-news.com-
Huge dynamics, power riffs and those vocals straining the throat and every sinew. His soloing is electrifying and he sounds as though he is back doing what he wants and really enjoying himself. Absolutely album of the year so far.
Get Ready To Rock -
This album offers further evidence that Walter Trout is very much at the centre of the best blues rock out there .
Planet Rock Nicky Horne-
I like this album a lot & want to keep programming it .
Hifi +
Change of label hands and boy oh boy, has he crafted a peach with this one! THE OUTSIDER is definitely one of his best ever albums. The songwriting has gone up a few notches, Trout s singing better than ever and his playing s gone through the roof of heaven. There s no need for lengthy dissection; suffice to say if you re looking for a great no frills / all action record to blow your blues away, look no further than here.
CLASSIC ROCK SOCIETY T
his brand new album is typical Trout, powerful blues rock peppered with lengthy trademark solos and will surely please his legions of fans worldwide.
GUITAR TECHNIQUES
The inimitable Mr. T returns with another round of jackhammer guitar playing. It's time that the guy's talent as a performer is recognised. Thankfully he's loved by his fans & plays to sell-out audiences around the globe".
CLASSIC ROCK
Blues album of the month 9 stars Walter attaches his heart to his peeling Strat and makes both sing on a record full of gems. Twinned with his care-worn bark and
compositional flair, this is the rubber stamp on his greatness . --various clips

Aways Good To Have Some "Fresh Trout" To Serve Up To Guests
What can I say that hasn't already been said?....OK..I'll try...Walter plays the guitar like an Olympic sprinter runs a race....He plays every song like it might be his last...All out...and heartfelt...Some say he plays too fast, too loud, too much emphasis on lead guitar...It's a matter of opinion....in my opinion..I happen to like it..
In this album Walter starts it off with "Welcome To The Human Race" which is classic..."Walter"..Great tune...
This album also shows a little of a softer and deeper "Walter"...This record is a must have for any die hard fans of Walter but also would be a great listen for those new to his music...
All around a very good album that I am happy to have in my collection and I am always very proud to serve up some "Fresh Trout" for my guests...This is well done Trout for all.....Thanks for listening.....Ragamuffin
In the presence of greatness
I saw Walter on July 22, 2008 in Davenport, IA and he is outstanding. I bought this CD there and have been listening to it over and over. Just love it.
His show is fantastic and for the first time in my life I said during one of his songs "I feel like I am in the presence of greatness!" He is that good.
Have three other CD's and I love them all. Can't believe the guy who said they were all the same. There some similarities but enough differences to really enjoy.

Walter Trout At The Top Of His Game
Walter Trout has given us an outstanding collection of 13 original songs showcasing his ample song-writing, vocal, and guitar-playing talents. From the opening notes of "Welcome To The Human Race" to the final chords of the title track, Walter simply sounds great here. His tone, his guitar-playing precision, the song hooks ... here is Walter Trout at the top of his game. To heck with trying to label his music as blues, rock, bluesrock, or even "Fred" .... whatever it is sounds absolutely wonderful and makes me want to hear more of it. The New Jersey born Trout has always been one of the best guitar slingers on the planet but here he gives us more than just supersonic riffs. Walter's music is simply "good stuff". It's finally time to get the word out in these United States of America. Walter Trout deserves a listen. His new CD, "The Outsider" gives us more than enough reason.
