Great DVD Release
I didn't exactly know what to expect from this set since it was made-to-order and not a pre-manufactured box set. I was surprised at the quality of the set. The box & disk art is great and the quality of the video and audio of the shows themselves are great. The video quality is even better than some pre-manufactured DVD sets that I own. The only bad things I can say about the release is there are absolutely no special features and there are no subtitles or even closed captioning for the episodes.
I'm glad they are still releasing this series on DVD and I hope season 5 comes soon. I wish other companies would release some of their series this way. Especially stalled series like Mary Tyler Moore, and The Bob Newhart Show.
This way they only have to make sets that have already been ordered so they won't have a bunch of DVD sets made that don't sell.
Mixed Feelings
First let me say that I am very pleased to see the fourth season of Charles In Charge make it to DVD. It wasn't ground breaking television but was always fun to watch and it still is. The episodes themselves look and sound great.
My issue is more with the packaging, labels & on screen menus. To me the labels give sort of a red tint to everyone's skin color. Giving the appearance that they spent too much time in the tanning bed. This is true of the box art as well as the labels on the discs. This along with the art used on the on screen menus gave the discs a homemade feeling.
Also, it should be noted that this is a 6 disc set not a 3 disc set as with prior seasons. The first two discs have 5 episodes while the remaining 4 disc have 4 episodes each. This was not really an issue to me just something I thought was noteworthy.
All in all if I had it to do over I would still buy this set. I am more concerned with the episodes themselves than the packaging and the episodes are great. And as I already stated it was good to see the next to last season on DVD in any capacity.
Can't wait for S5
I received CIC S4 a few days ago and I already watched all the episodes. The DVDs arrive in two cases containing three discs each; the first two discs contain five episodes each and the other four discs contain four episodes each. Each disc's artwork is a different color. Each case has artwork like the picture shown here. The first case's artwork is blue and the second cases artwork is red. The back of the cases has a short write up about the show and a box listing the name of the episodes that are on the discs. The picture quality is the same as the previous DVD releases so no worries about that. I'm glad that they decided to use more discs instead of cramming a lot of episodes on one disc because that would affect the picture quality. If your on the fence about buying Season 4 I would say do it because other than buying and downloading the episodes from here this is the only way you can get this terrific television show.
