Solid4
If you're reading this chances are you're already a Popes fan and wanting to know if this album is worth the cash. My simple answer to you is, yes. I wouldn't say this album is on a whole as strong as destination failure, but some of the individual tracks are great. I'd say of the 12 tracks on the album about 6 of them will prove to be Popes classics and the rest have not grown on me yet.

Worth The 10 Year Wait4
My first Popes album was "Born to Quit" (after hearing the track "Mrs. You & Me" on a compilation). By the time "Destination Failure" came out the band had definitely secured a place among my very favorites, and I never get tired of that album (good thing, given how long it took to get another one). While I was extremely glad to hear about Josh Caterer's newfound Christian faith, I was still bummed that he broke up the band as a result.

Taken as a whole I don't like this album as much as "Destination", but individual tracks on it are easily as good or better (and others are really growing on me). The band's signature sound is completely intact and tighter than ever, but they've progressed and developed enough to produce an album that doesn't contort itself trying to fit the mold of the past. If you've seen the band live, that level of confidence shouldn't surprise you... they tear through a set list like monsters stomping across Tokyo, and make it seem effortless.

A truly great band... it's a complete delight to have a new album at this late date, and especially one this solid.

Excellent Album5
I've discovered the Smoking Popes fairly recently, as I was too young to know them the first time around. Luckily, I'm in the Chicago area, so I've been to multiple live shows already. This CD captures much of the band's energy present at these concerts. If you are a fan of their older albums, Destination Failure or Born to Quit, you'll definitely like this one too. Even through the years, their sound is almost the same, just a bit tighter with more years of experience. You won't regret getting this album.
