Album Description
This limited edition collectible U2 Deluxe Edition boxset is handsomely constructed in a sturdy hardbound shell, measuring 5 3/4" (width) x 2 3/4" (spine width) x 5 7/16" (tall) and comes with the newly remastered and expanded 2 CD deluxe editions of the bands first three albums BOY, OCTOBER and WAR, plus room for a fourth (not included). Re-mastered from the original audio tapes, each deluxe includes a disc of b-sides, live tracks and rarities, and the packaging on all three titles has been restored and expanded, with new liner notes for each record, previously unseen photos and full lyrics.
This set also comes with a limited edition, exclusive 18'x24' full color replica poster from the bands beginnings, recreated just for this boxset.
People en Español
U2’s first three albums--Boy, October, and War--receive star treatment with these re-mastered versions, just as their legendary The Joshua Tree record did last year. Every album includes a second disc of b-side remixes, live versions, and rare performances that die-hard fans of the Irish band will surely appreciate. The box also has room for a fourth album (we assume it’s for The Joshua Tree), but we can’t help to think that they’ll come out with a second Deluxe Edition Box Set next year, with even better albums from the band’s vast musical catalog. --Ernesto Sánchez (People en Español

Customer Reviews
Welcome home old friends
From the opening riff of I will Follow, I had chills ... Like U2, I'm in my 40s and this was the music of my teen years. I may have been a little late to the U2 party becoming a fan with the release of October. That said, I always felt that that the one knock on all 3 of their first albums was production, not the mix. Between money and technology some of the band was lost between their performances in the studio and what we got in the shop. That has finally been taken care of. Edge has done an outstanding job of bringing these albums finally and completly to life. I am reminded of the re mastering job that Jimmy Page did on the Zeppelin catalog.
The bonus tracks, as a whole, are both invigorating and illuminating. Many memories came back to me as I remember many of these songs from now long lost 12" singles. I hope I am not the only one who remembers the 12" single. My one complaint, albeit small, is the utterly poor choice of bonus tracks on War.
...and the poster is a nice touch
U2 first 3 albums deluxe
Nice package of the first 3 albums of U2. All three of them have a bonus disc with live performances or remixes of the songs on the orginal disc.
In comparison with the european edition, you get an extra box in which you can store these 3 albums, together with a mini-poster.
The 4th album - Under a blood red sky - of which a deluxe edition will come later this year, can also be stored in this box.
If you're a fan, this one's a must have
Like many fans of U2's early work, I fell off the bandwagon after the Joshua Tree but this box set gets you all the goodies (and then some) that were never released on vinyl or CD, or at least not officially... and I don't count the Apple/iPod MP3 crap that was released with the U2 iPod. I have all their original first pressing singles and it's great to finally have them on a very good sounding CD, as auditioned on my mega-buck all tube system.
There's a great first version of "Fire" called "Saturday Night" that, to me, is worth the price of admission alone. Never heard it before, never knew it existed. I think it's better than "Fire". Lyrics are completely different but the instrumentation is basically the same. Killer.
Oh, did I mention the packaging? First rate. Jeez, I sound like a shill for their record label. I could write more but I think I'll go back to listening. Best 65 bucks I've spent in awhile.
