No advertizing in this "30th Anniversary Edition Gift Set" version5
I won't go into what this movie is about. If you are not familiar with Animal House yet, then shame on you. What I will say is this edition, the "30th Anniversary Edition Gift Set" version does not have any of the ads or commercials that reviewers of other versions are complaining about. I have not seen the 30th Anniversary non-Gift Set version, so I can't say if it has ads or not, but it may be worth the extra 10 bucks or so to get an ad-free Gift Set.

"I'm a zit...get it?!"5
The Good Things
*Has good clean video quality and pretty good sound quality.
*Includes some neat special features; a trivia game, a "Where are they now?" featurette (both on disc one), a new 98 minute making-of documentary, and the older 45 minute documentary (both on disc two).
*This gift set also includes a neat yearbook-style booklet and a huge glossy box. The box is actually a little too big for the movie and the booklet, but die-hard fans will get a kick out of it. I intend to use the extra space in the box for the Blu-Ray whenever it comes out.
*The movie itself is a classic comedy, filled with great funny dialogue and funny situations.
*The storyline is simple but fun.
*Characters are smashing, and well-acted; it is a great cast. Writing is great.
*Soundtrack includes some good classy oldies.

The Bad Things
*Not for kids; contains swearing and sex.

The Questionable Things
*Some antics may be seen as immature; could be good or bad. Some people might even get a nostalgic kick out of it.

This movie is one of the most essential comedies ever made. The dialogue is completely hilarious. The characters are not only funny, but well-acted and great to watch. There are a lot of funny memorable moments. As a movie about frat boys, it can be a bit immature, but is not as bad as modern comedies of this type. Highly reccomended to anybody looking for a good laugh.

This rating is for the presentation only, not the film! What do you get for the extra $$$? A box that will sit on your shelf, a softcover booklet with some weak humor, and the movie in a regular snap-case that will find its way into your regular DVD collection(sans oversize box).
What could have they done better? Publish the booklet as a mini- hardcover, included some liner notes/essays,vintage ads or reviews, included the CD soundtrack, a shotglass, postcards or some other kind of merch.
Pretty half-hearted effort.
Save your money and get the regular edition.
