Album Description
UK digipak pressing of the 2008 album from this Blues phenomenon. I Started Out With Nothin'... is the follow-up album to his surprise-hit album Dog House Music that he recorded in his kitchen and released in 2006 on the Bronzerat label. Seasick Steve has played in Lightnin' Hopkins' and John Lee Hooker's bands, as well as also playing in Modest Mouse's touring line-up. His first album, Cheap, was released in 2004. Steve subsequently survived a heart attack but recovered to breakthrough with a memorable performance at Jools Holland's Hootennanny New Year's Eve celebration. Now, he remains the talk of the town! Warner.
Customer Reviews
Aw hell it's him again...
This album is ok, if you know of Seasick Steve I'm not sure what else you would be expecting. He's a great live performer and for that reason hearing the chatter between tracks without the visuals doesn't do it for me. But it's a decent up front recording with simple arrangements, if that's overproduced then I'm all for it. Everybody should have at least one Seasick Steve cd in their collection.
Incidentally check out the previous reviewers other comments, he's either been very unlucky in his purchases or just ain't got a good word to say about nuthin'
Aw hell, it had to happen
The guy got too popular too quick and this alternately overproduced and slick tracks (once these white neobluesmen start hiring the soulful black women back up singers, it's usually all over) followed by songs that sound exactly like the ones off his last album. The guy has a very, very limited palette and playing skills, and he's just run into the wall with this one.
