FINALLY, A ROY AYERS CLASSIC ON CD.
It's about time somebody started waking up and releasing some good old school r&b on cd. This is if not one of Roy's best recordings since his inception into the music business. I personally like his version of "You Send Me" better than Sam Cooke's version. Roy adds more jazzy flavor to it, especially with the female vocalist as a guess on the song. I believe her name is Carla Vaughn. This whole cd is a keeper and for any true fan of Roy Ayers, I highly recommend that you go out and cop it in a hurry up before it somehow finds it's way out of print. You know how record companies can get.
This recording will "Send You"
Roy Ayer's version of Sam Cooke's "You Send Me" is the type of song that sends chills up my spine. I clearly remember the first time I heard this back in the day. It froze me in my tracks! EVERYTHING works in this track. The blending of the female lead (Carla Vaughn) with Roy's voice and the smooth funky jazz instruments creates a cut that just oozes sweetness. It makes you just want to melt. For me, that's reason enough to buy this cd. However, all the tracks are great. I highly recommend that you add this to your collection.
Priceless & Timeless
Roy Ayers' "You Send Me" LP finally on CD as it was released back in the day! I absolutely love his grooves. This is one of those albums you can play from start to finish without skipping a track. The music and vocals still hold up to this day. Priceless and timeless is my best opinion of this reissue. This is sexy soul at its' best. MMMMMMMM!
