Just What I Wanted5
So I'm a usual suspect to stalk the Five Dollar Fridays for music I could possibly be interested in..and not feel so bad after buying it if it's bad, and know I got a steal if it's great. This certain mix falls into the latter category. This CD is a great mix of sort of an ethereal dance and jazz music style. I'm not even familiar with Mushroom Jazz, but this is good stuff...and well worth the five dollars. If you're looking for some laid back music that you can just sit back and chill to, this it...go spend the five bucks.

Very good, but fans can be disappointed.4
Yes indeed, it is a very good downtempo hiphop/acid jazz mix, really better than most of chill-out compilations on the market.

Unfortunately, I think fans won't find the magic of last Mushroom Jazz, especially the 2 and the 4.

Like in MJ 5, the trackselection is good but goes in a less coherent way compared to the other MJ. You won't find the strangeness and deepness of the 2, or the betwitching storytelling sound of the 4.

About the trackselection itself, you'll find here very good jazzy hiphop tracks, perhaps a bit more jazzy than the 5 The first 3 tracks are very good, Mark Farina'one "Life" is sweet too, and that's just examples.

But, Mark, where are the spoken vocals your placed through your Mushroom Jazz? Those spoken words which made your mixes like nothing else!

What a pity!

Perhaps that old fans will be disappointed, but for those who don't know Mushroom Jazz, it's still a strong release. There is no bad MJ!
Nevertheless, if you want the real cream of Mushroom Jazz, buy the two or the four with this one!

One super-pleasing hour...5
I agree wholeheartedly that this is a steal at [...] bucks. It plays as a single masterpiece (endings are abrupt if you don't listen to the whole thing on order). Awesome mix... great sound for our lounge. It has heavy tones of Jazz, with just the right mix of hip-hop. Very nice job, Mark!

I'm gonna nab his other full-length...
