What was he thinking?3
Don't get me wrong, I AM A DIE HARD CHESNEY FAN, but lately this album and his last concert (he was drunk and had a hard time singing! NOLA 2008) I went to have me asking myself if Kenny hasn't reached the "Garth Brooks, I am out in left field" part of his life? I mean, why is it people start out with one type of music, become very successful, then they start to branch out??? WTF! I pay to see and hear classic Chesney beer drinking, college kegger, party type songs, and story type songs, like "Jack and Diane", "I Go back", "Tractors Sexy"etc, not this wishey washy I am rethinking my life while laid back on my own private island with my million dollar yacht and with my so called friends scrap...!!! Their is a reason Underwood beat him out of The CMA Entertainer of the Year, ya think he will figure it out or is his reign over?

"I Go Back" to Kenny's old music.2
I'm a huge fan of Kenny Chesney's music. I have all of his CDs. I've seen him in concert a number of times. All that doesn't mean that I am not objective when it comes to his music though. His past couple of albums have not been up to par. I want the old Kenny music back. A mix of upbeat and slow songs, songs about the beach and songs about growing up and everything else, but not just slow songs about the beach. Most of the songs on this album would not ever hit radio if it wasn't Chesney singing them. There are a few good ones, like Way Down Here, but for the most part everything sounds the same and is not real creative, musicly. So, for now, I will just "go back" and listen to some of his old stuff until he comes out of this musical mid-life crisis.

~island country at its best~5
Need a vacation, but can't afford one? Simply pop in this CD - close your eyes - and just dream about being on the beach...relaxing and soaking up the sun!!!! Almost all of the songs on here are just so soothing and healing, and the lyrics really make you think of what this life is all about...what should our real priorities be?

"Lucky Old Sun" is an amazing follow up album to "Be As You Are" - I totally love it! The highlights to me on here are "Way Down Here", "Down The Road", "Nowhere To Go, Nowhere To Be", "Spirit Of A Storm", "Boats", and "The Life"...which are all just really mellow and relaxing - acoustic island music at its best! In my opinion, the only song that really doesn't seem to fit in on the CD is "Ten With A Two". Also, i must say that if you didn't like Kenny's 'Be As You Are' album, you probably won't like this album either - although the lyrics are deeper and quite different - it is still island style country music.

I gotta shout out a huge thank you to Kenny...i really appreciate the effort in making this CD. I know there was a lot of pressure to come out with another greatest hits album ($$$$$$$) but I totally needed this island music fix, because I can't travel right now - and I know that there are many other fans who cannot currently go on an Island getaway either. It is sooo nice to just play this CD over and over and dream about being in the islands...lying on the beach....hearing the ocean waves.....and soaking up that lucky old sun! In our crazy lives it's easy to get caught up in everything and lose sight of the big picture...but life on earth is so fragile and short. Listen closely to the lyrics in "The Life"...they're soooooo true!!!!! Overall ~9/10~
