Yes, It Hurts.2
I've never seen Dancing with the Stars, but I enjoy dance-based exercising. As such, I decided to give this a shot.

A few minutes into the warm-up, I was regretting it.

The cueing is poor, frequently not happening until she's already transitioned to the next move. Confusingly, she hasn't followed the trend of most competent exercise videos of cueing in reverse; when she says 'left', she's moving to the viewer's right, which is disorienting. Her background dancers are frequently on a slightly different rhythm and often move on to the next movement even before she does - which means they're even farther ahead of the cueing.

What ultimately lost me, though, was one simple line: "And, yes, it hurts. But you can do it!" She goes on to say, "Push yourself, push yourself," and wryly adds, "but don't hurt yourself." At this point, the only thing left in my head was 'oh, HELL no'. I stopped the video there.

I did end up watching it again - watching, not following - to see if the dance portions improved upon the warm-up. Her cueing still stinks, but you also now get inconvenient camera work: she's telling you to change your feet and the camera is focusing on her torso. The music in this portion is barely there, so it's like dancing to nothing but her cues - and it's been established, what I think of those. One dance segment was enough for me.

Overall, I really can't find anything to recommend this video for. Lisa does nothing for me as I can't appreciate a demonstrator who urges me to pursue pain and the workout itself is not the least bit fun. This is a video that will quickly find itself as a donation to my local library, I think.

ROCKY START NOW MY FAVORITE VIDEO!!!5
After a rocky start this is now my favorite cardio video and I have tried too many to count. Please don't feel discouraged by the jive in the first segment. That is by far the trickiest to get down but not impossible. The choreography is AMAZING. The steps SEEM simple but they make you feel like a professional dancer. I love that they are challenging but that the steps repeat in a pattern so a regular person can follow along. I did the video twice before adding my own music with the video on mute. This makes the video SO great and different than others - the steps stay the same but the music can change as often as you like. This difference is key. I can't dance to music that is boring so being able to have simple steps that repeat is really a revelation to me. I also appreciate that there are not too many traveling steps...for those of us that live in small apartments. Lisa won me over with her personality that is so warm and friendly. There is a great group of pro dancers who put there own spin on the steps. I did this video with my teenage niece and she loved it too (we both were chanting "single, single, double on the same side" Thanks for making these great workouts. I am a convert and can't wait until more come out!!!

Dance Body Beautiful5
Since I am both a fitness instructor for the YWCA and a Ballroom Dancer I was naturally curious to see what this video contained. I love it!! My husband & I have watched Dancing with the Stars since it started and think Louie VanAmstel a very sharp dancer, teacher & choreographer. Lisa is cute and a button and does a great job of explaining and demonstrating the dance steps. It is already beginning to pay off for me. I would highly recommend the video to anyone wanting to improve their physical fitness and have fun doing it.
