Inspirational Experience
This DVD is a valuable historical document of great pianists playing great literature. I did not have the opportunity to see these artists in person, so a film of their playing is helpful. Perlemuter, for one, is known to me by his recordings, particularly in the complete works of Ravel. I was particularly interested in watching his technique: the sense of relaxation in the arms and hands, the smoothness of motions, the efficiency of movement. This provides a great model of flexibility in the hands and wrists, in contrast to the tension that many students have.

For those who are fascinated with the history of great pianists and teachers, this DVD provides an excellent opportunity to see and to hear several artists.
