Watch it and love it, then listen to the music again
Dr. Horrible is a straight to Web 3-part special by Joss Whedon. It has superb writing, humor, music and a certain charm to it.
If you haven't seen this, head on over to www.drhorrible.com and watch it for free as the musical portions are only a fraction of the whole thing and it won't make much sense without the full context.
After having seen it multiple times, I'm still floored by the high quality and wonderful production values and just had to have the MP3s to listen to at work.
"A man's gotta do" and "My eyes" are phenominal. I personally like the Bad Horse ones, but they're so short you can't fully call them songs. "Brand new day" and "Slipping" are both very good as well.
The whole thing is just superb and worth owning for anyone who enjoys a good sci-fi muscial humorous tragedy.
Joss does it again.
All hail Joss Whedon and his merry troupers. If you are hooked on the soundtrack to the musical Buffy episode "Once More With Feeling", you'll also adore this soundtrack. Felicia Day (BtVS, The Guild), Neil Patrick Harris (Doogie Howser M.D., How I Met Your Mother) and Nathan Fillion (BtVS, Firefly, Desperate Housewives) are a delightful surprise on vocals. As enjoyable to hear as it is to watch.
Another reason to love Joss Whedon
Nine bucks is a little steep for an album that clocks in under twenty-five minutes, especially since you don't even get a hard copy. (Unless you burn one yourself, of course.) But if you're a fan of the wonderful mini-musical, it's worth every cent. The charm, wit, and professionalism you expect from Joss Whedon, with some surprisingly good vocals. If you choose to wait, Maurissa Tancharoen, one of the lyricists, has stated on drhorrible.net that they will likely release a CD (with lyrics!) at a later date.
