The filmmaker took a simple classic and expanded it into a full-length feature film without making the story feel forced. The story of a lonely boy who bonds with a stuffed rabbit is easy to follow and unfolds in a natural manner. Some kids might get frightened by the fires and destruction in the imaginary world toward the end. The characters, especially the goose and the horse, explain difficult concepts in detail. The film combines beautiful animation with live action. The scene in which the boy turns from live to animated is incredible. KIDS FIRST!® Child Juror Comments: "I loved this story. It is good because the imaginary world is cool. I liked how one minute it is animated and the next, it isn't. The part where the velveteen rabbit sees the other rabbits is cool. You can't tell what's real and what's not. I would definitely watch it again. It seems like this took place long long ago. The attic was full of toys. I think it took place in England. A truly fantastic movie for all to see
This movie is absolutely wonderful, just like the book. It is a powerful story which is timeless and very true to life. The first time I read this story as an adult, I was moved to tears; the same is true with this movie. (I guess it was put out on the shelf early, judging from the release date, because I found this movie at Target the other day for $9.99.) The movie is well done in every way, from the acting to the music to the scenery. I highly recommend this movie to everyone. It is worth the price. Buy it; watch it; share it! And my thanks to Nick, Philip, Michael, Chris and Hunter - who made me Real! :)

I bought the DVD for my 5 year old son. He loved it and the rest of the family did too. It is a great story. It is also one of our favorite books.
