Customer Reviews

Most boring disc I have heard form Armin in 6 years.1
I bought this disc two weeks ago in the Netherlands. we listened to it twice. It was the most boring disc I have heard from Armin in the State of Trance series since I started buying them in 2005

Disc one doesn't warm up until the third to last track on the disc.

Don't waste your money on this disc. Buy something else.

It was so uninspiring I left it a a gas station on pump hoping someone else would get some pleasure out of finding it for free.

Dance Floor Ruin4
If you're the type of person who mainly watches American Idol and buys the occasional Tiesto album, don't buy this. There are no big hooks, not like there were in 2007 and 2008, no massive anthems like "Lost." Armin is the DJ who is the most faithful to the genre, mixing track after track of aggressive trance. I saw him live earlier this year. It was bedlam.

I can't quite figure out why John O'Callaghan deserves to lead off both CDs; saw him at Cielo in New York City and it was dance floor ruin. He played nothing but hammering tech trance until all the girls fled and there was a crowd of 25 dudes headbanging around the DJ booth. Mat Zo gets the award for best track of the compliation with "This Fractal Universe." Young Ashley Wallbridge is here, but in my opinion, Armin picked the wrong Wallbridge/Nealon track. "My Blood" is better.

The mixes are a little clumsy sometimes. There are a lot of cuts, and not much blending. Then again, if you want blending, pick up an Anjunabeats compliation; there is one coming out soon. The Above and Beyond guys can really take you away. No, you listen to Armin because he picks the best tracks, he says what's good and everybody listens. He dictates taste. While Tiesto is off doing lord knows what with Tegan and Sara, Armin is burning down dance floors. Watch the man perform; he is an animal, a freak of nature. He is a perfectly genetically engineered DJ.

Casual fans will like ASOT 2008. DJs will like ASOT 2009 better. Keep that in mind.

Disappointed =(2
Tittle says it all. Very disappointed by this CD. No tracks to wow you, no tracks to you want to press repeat on. Its probably one of the most mellow Armin CD's I have heard. Just one of those chill and low key CDs. I was definitely not expecting this kind of CD from my all time favorite DJ. Yes it stinks but knowing Armin he will come back with a much better CD to top this. Let us forget this one and move on. But, no matter what he puts out as a CD AVB is still one of the best producers and live DJs.
