Customer Reviews

Be wary of Rebit2
I purchased the 3 PC version of Rebit in April 2009 after searching for an Apple Time-Machine like solution for my PC. As advertised, Rebit is easy to setup and get running. However, make sure you check the Rebit backup to ensure it is backing up all your files.

In my case, I found that Rebit did NOT backup my Outlook PST files. This is a big deal to me as most of my important data is actually stored in my e-mail.

I made 4 attempts to contact Rebit support before getting a response. Once I did get in touch with someone, they were courteous but not able to resolve my problem. Finally, I was told that the Rebit developers would have to get involved to trouble-shoot and resolve this issue. As of writing this review, an resolution has not been developed.

I can not recommend Rebit to anyone because of this issue.

Easy and simple.5
The software is very easy to use and extremely simple. If you want backup software that is hassle-free, get Rebit. It runs in the background without any signs of slowing down your computer. So far well worth the twenty eight dollars.

Rebit1
I bought this after a great review in one of the PC magazines.

After HOURS of trying to get it to function properly it simply would not work. When it started it would keep saying something about 'creating backup -- this will take a few minutes'... then HOURS and even DAYS later, it still said the same thing. It also had the nasty habit of popping up a message every three seconds which grabbed the 'focus' away from whatever other program was running, which would only go away if you clicked on it, so it rendered my computer completely incapable of doing any other work. The only solution was to reboot.

The REBIT support folks spent a lot of time with me on the phone and remotely connected into my system, sent me new/updated versions (the shipped version was way out of date).

Finally they simply threw up their hands and sent me an email saying "if this last attempted fix doesn't work we give up" (it didn't, so they did).

In checking the Rebit web site, it appears to me that this is a fairly new product (very little support thread data out there) and other people have experienced similar issues. In any case, it was a complete waste of time to keep trying to get it working both for them and me.

Fortunately, Amazon and J&R photo (who actually shipped the product) gave a full refund so kudos for J&R ... boo to Rebit.
