Editorial Reviews

Album Description
2009 release which marks the triumphant return of the British Soul vocalist. After 22 years in the business and five albums under her belt, critics are hailing Born Again the album of her career. This collection of songs perfectly showcases the vocals of the UK's Soul Queen, vocals that have been admired and beloved by music legends such as Prince, Peter Gabriel, Dave Gilmour, Chaka Khan, Quincy Jones, and Natalie Cole. Blending classic Motown grooves with a distinctly modern production and emotive lyrics, Mica is singing from the bottom of her heart. This is no more evident than on the albums title track. `Born Again' an epic ballad, sweeping strings and cut glass arrangement with a vocal that leaves you tingling. 12 tracks.

Customer Reviews

Intense and inviting.4
For a singer of such mainstream appeal, at least in Britain, it's curious that stardom has always evaded Mica Paris.
Having said that, there's no doubt that the British Soul songstess has a wonderful voice and individualistic delivery and approach: two other jazz/soul sirens come to mind, Regina Belle and Anita Baker.
The former teenage soul sensation Mica (pronounced Meesha), who'd had a massive success with "My One Temptation" in 1989 and stormed out of EMI 10 years ago instead of being sacked, has turned in a stunningly beautiful and sultry lady, reinventing herself professionally. She's now also a British TV favourite and a fashion icon.
The song that does the most to test what Paris is truly made of is "Where Is the Love", a duet with Will Downing for this remake of the Roberta Flack/Donny Hathaway classic from her debut album "So Good".
Her chart placings are not many, but who cares? Her pitch-perfect voice has always been in demand - Courtney Pine, David Gilmour and Walt Disney have all employed her.
"Born Again" is another solid release featuring a collaboration with James Morrison on single "Baby Come Back" and fresh and inviting covers of "My One Temptation" and "Summertime".
Mica is in excellent form, the famed 'hit-maker' Brian Rawling at the helm, you just can't go wrong.
Her voice, very soulful and lovely to listen to, has matured into a powerfully expressive instrument which redefines each and every one of these lovely and heartfelt songs.
The production by Brian Rawling, current and relevant, deserves strong applause, along with the orchestral and horn arrangements in particular.
The twelve soul/jazzy songs in this project display a consummate and quite exemplary artistry and an intense, emotional delivery.
Just the thing for a lazy summer's afternoon, in a comfortable chair, with an hour or so to spare before dinner.
It has a mellow, alluring, inviting and pleasant sound, drifting from one track to the next seamlessly and conjures images of sunsets, passion and romance.
All in all, a great record and one that should be applauded for all the right reasons.
This is a cracking present for anyone with a taste in good music.

True talent that has yet to really impact the USA4
Mica Paris really rocked the music scene back in 1989 with her debut Island Records album, "So Good". I played my cassette until it was well worn out. "Breathe Life", the title song and "My One Temptation" were awesome.
Unlike many, I followed her every since. I love her smokey low ranged voice. Time has not eroded her voice. In fact, I find that she has gotten better with her latest release, "Born Again". Her acoustic remake of "My One Temptation" and a live recording of "Summertime" further reveal that she is true talent without the hype. The cover shot pic of her is hot. Strike a pose! Mica Paris is "BORN AGAIN".

ONE OF HER BEST RELEASES..4
Her voice is amazing on this CD- especially in Eric Benet song "You're The Only One." That was an instant hit with me but after hearing her version of the song, I actually like hers better! I wonder if Eric has heard it. I've been a fan of her music since her first CD release.

I just wish she would tour in the United States. Maybe one day..?
