Frank Darabont got it right the first time. Green Mile was a good follow up but I can't believe this guy produced The Majestic

People may not like the movie but you can't deny the director's talent. Rob Marshall made this exetremely well

Weird choice for this list? Probably. But anyone who can get a preferably creepy performance out of Robin Williams and tone down his idiotic man childishness deseves credit and Mark Romanek does that

Sam Raimi started out with no budget and has become a real respected director. And if your first film is a cult hit you deserve to be recognized

Technically Doug Limen did a movie before this called Getting In, but forget that, this movie is what made him and its stars. I didn't like it as much as Go but its still ok

The academy likes actor/directors and they awarded Robert Redford best director for this

Does this movie deserve to be on here? I don't know I havn't seen it, but Harold Ramis directed it and I like him. I mean c'mon, he's Egon!

I don't think this is directed well but I like it and Kevin Smith made himself a career out of it

The Boat. Wolfgang Petersen made a huge scale movie for his first outing and made it well

Tim Burton's first feature length film is not high on my list of favorites, but I think he's a brilliant director and enjoy a lot of his later movies (not including Planet of the Apes)
