Day of Wrath features many amazing camera shots. The way the set is presented and the use of lighting and shadow enhances the dark theme of the film - the dark theme being the absurdity of burning 'witches' at the stake. This film does a great job illustrating the way the so-called men of the 'church' were able to get want they wanted from women who were supposedly witches. 9/10

Rebecca is a very interesting film. It's a character study of a character that doesn't even appear in the film. Judith Anderson is especially convincing as Mrs. Denvers, giving a creepy performance that ranks up there with the best of Hitch's antagonists. Her performance and the unorthodox character study that exists in Rebecca makes this movie what it is - a classic and one of Hitch's best. 9/10

Le Corbeau was a fascinating film. It was ambigious and mysterious. This movie not only mystifies and entertains, but has a very import social commentary as well. 8/10

Spellbound was entertaining, full of mystery and love, and included a very nice surreal dream sequence designed by Salvidor Dali. Peck and Bergman are also great, as they usually are. Spellbound is disliked for its over-the-top plot, but unrecognized for its amazing camera angles, points of view, and cinematopraphy for 1945. This is a great film. 8/10

Here is another fantastic film noir from director H.G. Clouzot. Quai des Orfevres is an entertaining and technically sound noir that excercises a bit of French New Wave. None of the actors are big but they all give solid performances that are convincing and captivating. All noir fans need to be sure to get a hold of this as it's well worth a viewing. 8/10

I thought the movie was very funny. While Grant is very theatrical, he still portrays a man in shock after learning such a harsh secret very well. Although the synopsis sounds morbid, this is indeed a comedy, and a very funny one. The two women that play Grant's aunts are perfect, passing as naive in a very realistic way. 8/10

Casablanca is a classic, straight up. The performances are all are believable, and all help the story move at a great pace. This film takes an excellent and realistic look at a situation where old lovers meet up unexpectedly and how they respond to such circumstances. Bogart and Bergman have excellent chemistry, really making this film what it is. 8/10

Overall, it's a great watch and definitely worth multiple watches - actually, multiple watches are required. Bogart does an amazing job in this movie, as does his supporting cast. The problem lies in trying to relate to them during initial viewing. I must do my part to warn that this is not light viewing - but it is excellent regardless. 8/10

I grew up with this one. I watched Adventures of Ichabod every Halloween and The Wind and the Willows was always one of my favorite books, so Mr. Toad was always a fun watch. 8/10

The Killers has been dubbed as the Citizen Kane of film noir - and rightfully so. The flashback story style used is very similar to that of Kane and the way the man's life is pieced together throughout the film is also very familiar. Overall, with this technique, the film is solid. Burt Lancaster is a great actor and doesn't disappoint with his performance here. 7/10

There are really no stand-out performances or features, but everything is evenly solid. If you want to see a noir that's interesting from start to finish and doesn't involve much more than just sitting back and enjoying yourself, Kiss of Death is the movie for you. Noir fans, see this; all others, it's up in the air. 7/10

Double Indemnity played host to many great film noir techniques and had a very interesting premise. Overall, it was a very entertaining film that I will probably watch again at some point, but as of right now, I can't give this higher than a 7. It just disappointed a little too much. 7/10

I found this movie to be much less satisfying than Chaplin's silent films. First, the social commentary here is painfully forced, at least in the last 20 minutes. I will say the film was entertaining enough and it in no way bored me. And I enjoyed Verdoux's time with the woman he picks up off the streets. But overall, I can't really say this was any better than just a good little movie. 7/10
