She enjoyed this much more than Stuart Little. Perhaps it didn't require as much suspension of disbelief.

Tremendously fun read-aloud. If you need practice developing voices or modulating your tone, this is your book. DD loves to rhyme off the giants' names and makes up her own giant-speak.

She thinks this is hilarious. It was an enjoyable read aloud for me as well.

To my surprise, her all-time favourite book. It aches to be read aloud, with voices. The songs/rhymes themselves are worth the price of the book.

Everyone I know seems to adore these when young, but I'd never read them. My daughter and I greatly preferred these books to Stuart Little.

My daughter loves this book. Not really a novel, but relatively dense short stories. It's worth checking out other titles in the NYRB Children's collection and more Jenny Linksy is forthcoming.

Color editions on nice paper. Books 1,3, and 4 are suitable for this age. Skip 3 if you would prefer not to deal with Native American issues until later. We chose to read it and didn't have a problem.
