![]() | Halloween
Buy new: $11.99 / Used from: $2.79 You had to see the father of the slasher films coming first on this list. Halloween truly is a classic that scared the crap out of me when I first saw it!
![]() | A Nightmare on Elm Street (Infinifilm Edition)
Buy new: $15.99 / Used from: $3.83 This one comes in a close second. Everything about A Nightmare on Elm Street is different from everything you've seen in slasher films. The dream aspect really gives this film that little bit extra.
![]() | Candyman (Special Edition)
Buy new: $11.99 / Used from: $2.73 This movie was 100 times better than I thought it would be! It ain't your everyday "teenagers get stoned and a creepy stalker kills them" kind of slasher... its so much more!
![]() | Serial Mom (Collector's Edition)
Buy new: $15.99 / Used from: $10.88 Okay so here's one instance where this list moves away from horror. Some people might not consider this a slasher but as far as I'm concerned it is. Serial Mom is hilarious and what could be creepier than having the next Charles Manson as your mom?
![]() | Scream (Dimension Collector's Series)
Buy new: $11.99 / Used from: $2.45 Arguably one of the most defining movies of the 90's, Scream is a great slasher. It added the idea of the rules of a horror movie and kicked off the second slasher craze. Don't miss this one!
![]() | Black Christmas (Special Edition)
Buy new: $13.99 / Used from: $7.80 While Halloween is credited with starting the slasher craze, Black Christmas actually came first. Make sure you see this one and not the crappy remake.
![]() | A Nightmare on Elm Street 3 - Dream Warriors
Buy new: $9.98 / Used from: $1.03 This sequel is a definite stand-out among the Nightmare on Elm Street sequels. Freddy starts cracking his one-liners here but still keeps it scary. Welcome to prime time bitc*!
![]() | Happy Birthday to Me
Buy new: $10.99 / Used from: $4.83 Not necessarily the best slasher ever made but it has some really cool parts. And the ending will definitely stay with you. Be sure to pick up this new DVD release and not the crappy old one with the purple background and the random girl on the front.
![]() | Friday the 13th
Buy used from: $1.79 No slasher list would be complete without including one of the biggest icons of pop culture - Jason Vorhees! Thanks to this film we have the countless slashers that do nothing but show hot teens getting trashed, having sex, and then getting slaughtered in totally gruesome ways. What would the world be without this film?
![]() | Sweeney Todd - The Demon Barber of Fleet Street
Buy new: $15.99 / Used from: $2.98 Who in their right mind doesn't like a slasher musical!? This film delivers a great story, great acting, an awesome ending, and plenty of blood and guts to satisfy all you gore lovers out there. Don't pass it up just cause its a musical.
![]() | Sleepaway Camp II - Unhappy Campers
Buy used from: $7.31 These next two sort of go together. I know that everyone loves the first Sleepaway Camp but I have to say that these two sequels are absolutely amazing! Everything people want in a campy 80's slasher!
![]() | Sleepaway Camp III - Teenage Wasteland
Buy used from: $2.91 2 and 3 are pretty similar. Angela has some great kills with some hilarious dialogue. "Just takin' care of business."
![]() | April Fool's Day
Buy used from: $5.99 April Fool's Day puts a new twist on the slasher genre. It has some great actors in it and I just appreciate the filmmakers giving us something different.
![]() | Halloween H20 - Twenty Years Later (Dimension Collector's Series)
Buy new: $9.49 / Used from: $3.88 Halloween: H20 is my favorite of all the Halloween sequels. Great acting all around, great special effects, and a really well thought out story line really make this one stand out.
![]() | Grindhouse Presents, Death Proof - Extended and Unrated (Two-Disc Special Edition)
Buy new: $10.99 / Used from: $2.49 And rounding out the list, we have Quentin Tarentino's Death Proof. This film also introduces a new aspect in the slasher genre - a stalker who kills people with his car. And you gotta love the wit that Tarentino throws in.
