This is to protect the 50mm lens, it was expensive, but maybe that's why the quality of pictures with that lens is so high?

This bag was helpful for carrying the XT with the 50mm, but any bigger lenses and you can't use it.

The XT's sensor is smaller than a "full frame" camera. For that reason, to get wide-angle pictures, you have to get short focal-length lenses. This one provides a great range for landscapes, as well as walkaround use. Image-stabilization is helpful for low-light situations.

For wiping the sensor.

Being an aspiring nature photographer, graduated neutral-density filters are essential for landscape shots during sunrise and sunset. These are light, and come with filter containers and a filter holder.

Rather than purchase a macro lens, I bought this kit and effectively turned my 50mm lens into a macro. These work great, and are very sharp.

I'm going on a trip to Asia soon, and rather than risk frying my battery charger, I bought this so that I can use regular batteries. It also has the benefit of making your XT look kinda like a 5D!

For long hikes with all my equipment (including tripod) strapettes are helpful to spread the load to the shoulders. You can still access the pack without removing it, just let down the strapettes, and swing around the pack.
