The book by Valerie Martin was far superior to the movie (even with Julia Roberts and John Malkovich in it). I think Martin got across both Mary's love for her employer and her disgust at Mr. Hyde a lot better than the actors in the movie.

One that I'm not really sure of! They're both great. Movie is exactly like the book....although the recipes at the beginning of each chapter add a tasty plus!

I liked Mel Gibson's version of this play...but it's still quite good just on its own.

The bit of the book by Winston Groom I read made me like Tom Hanks' performance of him better than he was written in the book. But again, I saw the movie first. That might influence my opinion. And I'm a sap for love stories!

Steinbeck and this version of his famous story = a tie. I like them both. Gary Sinise, John Malkovich -- they work well together.

Haunting and lovely. Love it. Can't say I declare a winner, although I love Gillian Anderson's attempts in literary/period dramas!

Just thought I'd add this one. Interesting -- Ewan McGregor as James Joyce? I'm intrigued and will change my reaction to this once I've watched the film.

Yikes -- this film version meant to make the descriptions in the book there for our eyes to see. Not sure I liked those parts, or Helena Bonham Carter's death/ressurection, but De Niro was *very* good as the monster. Sympathetic but terrifying. Not one for horror flicks, think I could have lived without seeing this film. But I think that means Branagh did his job adapting it!

Movie version and film version are equally good. Heartbreaking.

Christopher Reeve and Jane Seymour are good --hauntingly so -- in this film. Odd enough, I'd say this 1980 film is timeless -- as many times as I see it, it is just as good as the time before. I can't watch this too much as I'd never stop crying at the ending. Based on Matheson's book/in turn based on Jack Finney's book

As I watch the films and read the books I regret that they can't make a movie long enough to include the whole book as Rowling wrote it, but I understand.

Cedric Diggory (Robert Pattinson) = Hogwarts Hunk. Ralph Fiennes as Voldemort was a great choice. He gives me goosebumps. It's good to have a classically trained actor play him. I'm glad he took the part. I like the special effects for the Triwizard Tournament.

It will be interesting to see this movie adaptation.
