Pixar's films are usually worthy of inclusion in the Best Picture race, but this time more people are noticing. WALL-E is amazing and bold even by their lofty standards. It is near-silent but says more than most films this year.
The Class (Entre les murs) [Theatrical Release]The Class (Entre les murs) [Theatrical Release]
This Palme d'Or winner from France is an incredible, almost documentary-like look inside a Paris middle school. François Bégaudeau, author of the semi-autobiographical novel on which it is based, acts in the main role and leads a cast which performs so authentically you are likely to forget they are performing. The resulting film is fascinating and entertaining.
Revolutionary Road [Blu-ray]Revolutionary Road [Blu-ray]
Buy new: $13.99 / Used from: $9.49
The underappreciated masterpiece of author Richard Yates finally comes to the big screen after years of false starts, and thankfully the film is fantastic. Kate Winslet and Leonardo DiCaprio give the best, most nuanced performances of their careers in this faithful adaptation.
The Visitor [Blu-ray]The Visitor [Blu-ray]
Buy new: $16.99 / Used from: $9.00
A small, beautiful film which most people are forgetting at end-of-the-year awards time, but they shouldn't. The Visitor features wonderful acting by the entire cast and makes a significant statement without feeling preachy.
Waltz with Bashir [Blu-ray]Waltz with Bashir [Blu-ray]

Director Guillermo del Toro goes wild with imagination in this inventive sequel to Hellboy, which is deeper, richer and better than its predessecor in every respect.
In BrugesIn Bruges
Buy new: $12.49 / Used from: $2.47
A dark comedy which definately is not for all tastes, but if you enjoy more subdued, less in-your-face laughs, you will find this irrestiably hillarious and surprisingly touching. A fine first effort for debuting director Martin McDonagh, who emerges as someone to watch.
The Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian (Two Disc and BD Live) [Blu-ray]The Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian (Two Disc and BD Live) [Blu-ray]
Buy new: $25.49 / Used from: $9.99
Though it deviates from the book more than the previous film, the filmmakers of PRINCE CASPIAN made the right choices to transform C.S. Lewis's slight novel into an exciting film epic. The resulting Narnia is darker and more foreboding than before, but also much more interesting than the naive place depicted in the book. The children have really improved in their roles.
Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull [Blu-ray]Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull [Blu-ray]
Buy new: $25.99 / Used from: $12.40
After 19 years of anticipation, INDIANA JONES has returned, and the resulting movie is nothing more or less than you'd expect. Those wanting something huge will be disappointed, but this is a fun film which fits in nicely with the others and is far superrior to the muddled TEMPLE OF DOOM.
Iron Man (Ultimate Two-Disc Edition + BD Live) [Blu-ray]Iron Man (Ultimate Two-Disc Edition + BD Live) [Blu-ray]
Buy new: $19.49 / Used from: $20.98
Though this origin story takes a while to get going, when it does it is a lot of fun. The movie works because of star Robert Downy Jr.'s wonderfully unconventional lead-performance, and it sets up an interesting franchise with the twist ending.
