Magnificent DVD presentation and film - great picture quality and extras.

Great collection of more obscure, yet terrific Hitchcock. I consider Rebecca Hitch's best directed (even if Psycho's my favourite), and Notorious and The Lady Vanishes are great. The other two are interesting and well worth holding onto.

I've only seen half of these (Beauty and the Beast, Rashomon, and Wild Strawberries), but each were great and worth owning (and now among my top favourites). This is a great bargain. I look forward to watching the other 3 films.

Great use of sound, interesting story, and Peter Lorre.

Still relevant today. The film's moving and poignant. Plus Takashi Shimura's great.

My favourite Wong Kar Wai film (and is also quite drole), and it looks gorgeous on Blu. Wong stole a lot of the ideas in this for his american film, "My Blueberry Nights", but they're more effective and humourous in this film.

I was really taken back at the liveliness of the characters. I had gotten used to hollywood acting, which feels stilted compared to this film. The characters here don't seem tied down by stage directions or nervous continuity advisors.

Two very influential films, headlined by the great Toshiro Mifune.

The best teen comedy, an amazingly gorgeous transfer, every extra imaginable, and one of Criterion's coolest packaging designs.

My second favourite Croenenberg film with remarkable performances by Jeremy Irons.

Very interesting to compare it to Star Wars (similar story and characters). That, and it's great fun.

I've only seen "The Idiot" so far, but it was great. I look forward to the rest.

I haven't seen any of the films, but they're all highly ranked on imdb, and Ozu is considered a great filmmaker, so I figure I couldn't have gone wrong with picking this up.

Found this for $12 used at Blockbusters. It's a good Scorcese flick that met with controversy by people who hadn't even seen the film. It isn't the blasphamous film many people want others to believe, but rather it humanizes Christ so we can identify with him and understand him and his teachings. It also has great performances from Harvey Keitel and Willem Dafoe.

The art direction and framing is quite extraordinary - to the point where it distances itself from the viewer, giving it a unique charm and wit, but never fully involving the audience. Still, it's a great film where its faults, ironically, are also its strengths.

Great mockery of technology and its distancing effect on people's interactions with others. Though, now that the Blu-ray is out, the DVD should be avoided, as the film needs to be seen in the best resolution possible to best appreciate the jokes, as the film's shot mainly in long shots.

A little too woe is me, but a very powerful film none-the-less.
