![]() | Catch a Fire by Bob Marley & The Wailers
Buy new: $11.99 / Used from: $6.74 My favorite Bob Marley album. The songwriting's untouchable, and he handles powerful protests ("Concrete Jungle") and soothing love songs ("Stir it Up") with equal conviction. (10/10)

![]() | Burnin' by Bob Marley & The Wailers
Buy new: $11.99 / Used from: $5.18 Probably Bob's most explicitly political album, and it's amazing. Includes "I Shot the Sheriff", "Get Up, Stand Up" and "Burnin' and Lootin'". (9/10)

![]() | Natty Dread by Bob Marley & the Wailers
Buy new: $11.99 / Used from: $4.76 I think this is a slight step down from the last two But it's still got several classic songs, such as "Lively Up Yourself", "No Woman, No Cry", "Them Belly Full" and "Rebel Music" (8/10)

![]() | Live! by Bob Marley & the Wailers
Buy new: $14.99 / Used from: $8.66 One of the best of its kind. A slower, even more moving "No Woman, No Cry" is only the best known; there's also a swaggering "I Shot the Sheriff" and a gospel-influenced "Get Up, Stand Up" (9/10)
|
![]() | Rastaman Vibration by Bob Marley & The Wailers
Buy new: $11.99 / Used from: $3.45 Here Bob was so into getting his message across he let the songwriting take a hit. But there are some winners - "Positive Vibration", "Roots Rock Reggae" and "Rat Race" are my favorites - and there's not a bad song on it. (7/10)

![]() | Exodus by Bob Marley & the Wailers
Buy new: $13.98 / Used from: $6.95 Loaded with hits: "Waiting in Vain"; "Exodus"; "Jamming"; "Three Little Birds" and "One Love/People Get Ready". And "Natural Mystic" and "Turn your Lights Down Low" definitely measure up. (9/10)

![]() | Kaya by Bob Marley & the Wailers
Buy new: $11.99 / Used from: $6.76 Bob's "sex, drugs, and rock 'n' roll" album, if you swap the "rock 'n' roll" for "Rasta" and mellow it out. The entire second side is void of a memorable moment, but it's listenable and has some great stuff ("Easy Skanking"; "Is This Love?"; "Satisfy My Soul"; "Sun is Shining"). "Kaya" = "Wacky Tobbacy", by the way. (6/10)

![]() | Babylon by Bus by Bob Marley & The Wailers
Buy new: $11.99 / Used from: $7.31 I'm a sucker for live albums, and this might be the best ever released, mostly due to Al Anderson's amazing lead guitar work on "Lively Up Yourself", "Rebel Music" and "Is This Love", and the funky edge. (10/10)
|
![]() | Survival by Bob Marley & the Wailers
Buy new: $11.99 / Used from: $7.88 This one's been lost to history, and while some of it kind of falls short ("Ride Natty Ride"), it's another collection of solid if slightly samey protests (title track; "One Drop"; "Africa Unite") (7/10)
|
![]() | Uprising by Bob Marley & the Wailers
Buy new: $9.99 / Used from: $7.03 Bob's last studio album, which is a shame because he had a lot ahead of him and seemed like a fantastic person to me in the first place. It's kind of overrated, but it has some of his best moments - "Work", "Coming in from the Cold", "Bad Card", "Could You Be Loved?", and "Redemption Song". (8/10)
|
![]() | Confrontation by Bob Marley & The Wailers
Buy new: $11.99 / Used from: $7.18 Much as I love Bob's music, this posthumous release shouldn't have came out. Okay, I'll give you "Buffalo Soldier" and "Chant Down Babylon", but the rest is just Bob going through the motions. (4/10)
