![]() | Aquatic Ape Hypothesis (Condor Indep Voices) by Elaine Morgan
Buy new: $16.37 / Used from: $5.06 We look a bit like apes but there are a lot of differences. Looking for those differences elsewhere in the natural world, we can find many of those features in aquatic creatures. Maybe some of our ancestors led a semi-aquatic life for a period of a million years or two on an offshore island before returning to life on the mainland. This book presents the case for but there is no proof yet.

|
![]() | Castles: England + Scotland + Ireland + Wales by Plantagenet Fry
Buy used from: $10.46 All genuine British and Irish castles (except a very few obscure castles of which nothing remains) are here including the Tower of London, Windsor, Alnwick (known to Harry Potter fans), Edinburgh, Caernarfon, Carrickfergus and Blarney to name just a few. It even mentions Leicester - the genuine original, not the fake castle specially built to house bad people.

![]() | The Authorized Biography of Vincent O'Brien by Jacqueline O'Brien
Buy used from: $4.99 Arguably the greatest racehorse trainer in the world ever, Vincent never had a huge stable compared to some but preferred to focus on quality even in his steeplechase days. He achieved greater fame on the flat via horses such as Sir Ivor, Nijinsky, Roberto, The Minstrel (grandsire of Cigar) and Royal Academy. The hardback edition is outstanding and well worth the extra price over the paperback.
|
![]() | Encyclopedia of Whisky by Michael Jackson
Buy used from: $32.20 Forget Jackson structured programming, forget the Jackson 5 and Thriller, this Michael Jackson has no connection with them. Buy new: $40.15 / Used from: $16.99 Actually 52 years of the Epsom Derby from 1953 to 2004. Extensive coverage of the build-up to each race as well as the race itself. My only disappointment is the very limited coverage of what happened afterwards. Then again, the title is "Derby days".

|
![]() | Nobody's Child by Kate Adie
Buy new: $15.95 / Used from: $0.01 This is not the autobiography of the famous BBC news reporter and war correspondent (that's a different book) but it is the fascinating story of foundlings (abandoned babies).
