The Best Arbuckle/Keaton CollectionThe Best Arbuckle/Keaton Collection
Buy new: $22.49 / Used from: $19.43
On two discs you get 12 short films that Keaton did with Roscoe "Fatty" Arbuckle from 1917 through 1919. Many of these films just have Keaton as a minor player, but you can still see him progress from bit part player in "The Butcher Boy" to practically a full partner in Arbuckle's films by the end of 1919.
The Cook and Other TreasuresThe Cook and Other Treasures
Buy new: $22.49 / Used from: $15.43
The only way I know of to view the long lost two-reeler, 1918's "The Cook", with Arbuckle & Keaton. A few seconds of footage remains lost, even here.

The jewel in the crown of any Keaton film collection. Contains the features and short films that Keaton made when he had creative control of his work from 1920 to 1928. An additional disc, "Keaton Plus", contains some commercials, home movies, TV appearances, and a couple of Educational Film shorts Keaton did in the late 1930's.
Buster Keaton Collection (The Cameraman / Spite Marriage / Free & Easy)Buster Keaton Collection (The Cameraman / Spite Marriage / Free & Easy)
Buy new: $35.99 / Used from: $19.85
Contains Buster's first three films that he did for MGM after he lost creative control. Cameraman is pure Keaton genius, Spite Marriage is a little less than top tier, and Free & Easy makes you wonder where Irving Thalberg was when Buster's first talkie was being made. Includes an excellent documentary on Keaton.
Doughboys [VHS]Doughboys [VHS]
Buy used from: $7.18
Made in 1930, "Doughboys" features Buster as a rich kid who erroneously enlists in the US Army during World War 1. Supposedly, some of the scenes are based on his experiences when he actually served in the war.
Sidewalks of New York [VHS]Sidewalks of New York [VHS]
Buy used from: $18.00
Buster plays Homer Harmon, a wealthy landlord of tenement buildings in a poor Irish neighborhood of New York City. He falls madly in love with the older sister of a teenage delinquent, whose gang is defacing his property. In order to win favor with the sister, Buster builds a gym for the kids. Made in 1931.
Comedy Classics 50 Movie Pack CollectionComedy Classics 50 Movie Pack Collection
Buy used from: $10.50
Contains "The Slippery Pearls"(1931), "Lil Abner"(1940), and "Speak Easily" (1932). Some of his silent stuff is on here, but it is unrestored and much of it is in very bad shape in regards to video quality.

A placeholder for "The Passionate Plumber" (1932), another early MGM talkie that Buster starred in. The only way I know you can get it is at www.classicvideostreams.com. They have DVD copies for sale. Not a great print, but it is watchable. They also sell individual DVD copies of "Grand Slam Opera", Keaton's best Educational Pictures short.
What! No Beer? [VHS]What! No Beer? [VHS]
Buy used from: $6.99
Made during the worst period of Buster's life (1933), mainly due to his battle with alcoholism. The problem is obvious in a few scenes where Buster looks ill and definitely sounds like he'd been drinking beforehand. Although it was a hit, MGM terminated their contract with Buster afterwards.
Buster Keaton Photographic Print, 16" x 12"Buster Keaton Photographic Print, 16" x 12"
A nice poster, but it's just a placeholder for the DVD set "Buster Keaton Educational Shorts" from looserthanloose.com. It's the complete set of shorts he made at Educational Pictures in the mid to late 1930's, and I know of nowhere else you can find this set. This set actually has very good video quality, but it's expensive ($65 + shipping).
Hollywood CavalcadeHollywood Cavalcade
Buy new: $13.49 / Used from: $6.88
In 1939 Buster had his first supporting role in an American feature film since MGM fired him in 1933. Here he plays Alice Faye's leading man in a film within a film. He's supposed to be a romantic lead, but instead he starts a pie throwing fest on the set and helps Don Ameche invent slapstick.

The 10 shorts Keaton made at Columbia Pictures in 1939-41. Director Jules White had a radically different view of comedy from his star. White guided the hijinks of Columbia's busiest comedy stars, the Three Stooges, and his leadpipe-to-the-noggin style did not mesh well with Keaton's measured, logical approach.

Public domain copy of a 1940 film in which Keaton is 7th billed.
Boom in the Moon [VHS]Boom in the Moon [VHS]
Buy used from: $19.95
This 1946 film is a cheaply made nonsensical C- movie even compared to Buster's early MGM talkies. If you are a Keaton completist, then give it a look if you must. However, just prepare yourself for even more heartbreak if you admire the man's talent as much as I do. Grapevine video now has DVD copies.
In the Good Old SummertimeIn the Good Old Summertime
Buy new: $5.79 / Used from: $4.75
Buster started out consulting for MGM on some problems in this 1949 film and ended up with a supporting role. He got the job because director Robert Z. Leonard trusted only Buster to destroy a Stradivarius in the way Keaton, as a gag writer on the film, had specified. The role got him into the public eye once again.
Limelight (2 Disc Special Edition)Limelight (2 Disc Special Edition)

Keaton plays Chaplin's partner in a supporting role in this 1952 film. Buster's part is only about 10 minutes at the very end of the film.

Features include Parlor, Bedroom and Bath (1931), An Old Spanish Custom (1935), industrial films - The Devil to Pay (1960), The Homeowner (1961) and The Triumph of Lester Snapwell (1963), commercials, and TV appearances. Parlor, Bedroom and Bath actually has a commentary track.
Twilight Zone: The Complete Definitive CollectionTwilight Zone: The Complete Definitive Collection
Buy new: $151.99 / Used from: $137.14
A great show, and you don't want every season just because of Buster, but Buster was featured once in a season 3 episode in 1961. Janitor Woodrow Mulligan (Buster) gets a trip from 1890 to 1962 courtesy of his employer's time helmet.
Buster Keaton Rides Again/The RailrodderBuster Keaton Rides Again/The Railrodder
Buy new: $22.49 / Used from: $18.69
The Railrodder is an interesting enough comic short from 1965, but of far greater interest is Buster Keaton Rides Again, a B&W documentary about the making of The Railrodder. The documentary shows Keaton the creative filmmaker who, even approaching 70, is willing to tussle with his director in order to milk every possible laugh out of a gag.

Buster Keaton - A Hard Act to Follow [VHS]Buster Keaton - A Hard Act to Follow [VHS]
Buy used from: $135.66
A three tape set documentary made in 1987 encompassing the entirety of Keaton's career. It is very well made and informative and it is both a wonder and a shame it has never been put on DVD.
Arbuckle And Keaton: Their 14 Film CollaborationsArbuckle And Keaton: Their 14 Film Collaborations by James L. Neibaur
Buy new: $35.00 / Used from: $48.65
An excellent book on the films of Arbuckle & Keaton during their years of collaboration, 1917-1919. It does justice to both artists, and even talks about Arbuckle's work while Keaton was in the army during World War I.
My Wonderful World Of Slapstick (Da Capo Paperback)My Wonderful World Of Slapstick (Da Capo Paperback) by Buster Keaton
Buy new: $15.25 / Used from: $8.27
A book about Keaton's career in Keaton's own words. This is not about Hollywood gossip and his private life. It is about his work, particularly during his independent years.
Buster Keaton: Cut To The ChaseBuster Keaton: Cut To The Chase by Marion Meade
Buy new: $18.95 / Used from: $5.66
Approach this one with caution. It has details about Buster's private life not found elsewhere, & is certainly a Hollywood-gossip laden volume, but I'm not sure how much of it is true. I caught the author in more than one erroneous conclusion when I read it, and since everyone involved is dead, it's impossible to prove or disprove her accusations. It does seem the author disliked her subject.
