![]() | Windows by Marian McPartland
Buy new: $18.98 / Used from: $3.50 Marian McPartland is a master jazz pianist and has been hosting her radio program on NPR called "Piano Jazz" for a very long time. This 2-disc Concord release contains two out-of-print albums "Portrait of Marian McPartland" and "At The Festival." Both albums are top-notch piano jazz.

![]() | Silent Pool by Marian McPartland With Strings
Buy new: $10.99 / Used from: $2.99 This 1997 release features McPartland playing with a string ensemble conducted and arranged by Alan Broadbent (who's also a great pianist) and her trio at the time. What a beautiful album, very moody.

![]() | Black Codes (From the Underground) by Wynton Marsalis
Buy used from: $3.66 Probably one of the most controversial figures in jazz in the last 20 years, but put all feelings aside and check out this album. It really smokes and swings hard. I wouldn't doubt this is one of his best.
|
![]() | Joe Cool's Blues by Wynton Marsalis & Ellis Marsalis
Buy new: $7.99 / Used from: $0.61 Another Wynton Marsalis album that's worth checking out. He plays the music of Charlie Brown on this one, but I'll assure you this is jazz for grown-ups!
|
![]() | Standard Time, Vol.3: The Resolution Of Romance by Wynton Marsalis
Buy new: $6.99 / Used from: $1.17 Probably his best "Standard Time" album (there's 6 of them). Wynton is joined by his Father, Ellis, who is a fine pianist, on this album of ballads. Absolutely wonderful playing.

![]() | Martians, Come Back!/Way Up There by Shorty Rogers
Buy new: $14.97 / Used from: $35.37 Shorty Rogers was the lead trumpeter for the Woody Herman Band and his own albums demonstrate that Rogers is fully capable of leading his own bands. This album, which is available on the Collectibles label, is probably one of his best.
|
![]() | Oscar Peterson Plays the Cole Porter Songbook by Oscar Peterson
Buy new: $13.99 / Used from: $7.29 The Oscar Peterson Trio with Ray Brown and Ed Thigpen were one of the most swinging jazz trios around. I would recommend checking out everything they've done, but "Plays The Cole Porter Songbook" is a great place to start.

![]() | Maria Schneider - Sky Blue [Standard Edition] CD -(Wallet style packaging with one booklet) by Maria Schneider
I can't get enough of Maria Schneider! Her compositions and arranging is some of the best out there right now. "Sky Blue" is one of the best big band albums I've heard in years.

![]() | West Coast Blues! by Harold Land
Buy new: $8.97 / Used from: $31.41 A very underrated saxophonist in my opinion, Harold Land is a true master and I would recommend his albums to everyone who enjoys good jazz.
|
![]() | A Lazy Afternoon
Buy new: $9.98 / Used from: $3.90 Harold Land with a string ensemble....need I say more? Beautiful, just absolutely beautiful recording.
|
![]() | Imagination by Woody Shaw
Buy used from: $5.10 This is trumpeter Woody Shaw's last recording and it's probably one of his best next to "Rosewood." Great interplay between all the musicians. It's a shame he left us too early.
|
![]() | Undercurrent by Kenny Drew
Buy new: $9.93 / Used from: $5.29 Kenny Drew has been on many famous sessions throughout his career, the most famous one being John Coltrane's "Blue Train" album, but what many people fail to overlook is what a great leader he is and this particular album featuring jazz legends like Hank Mobley and Freddie Hubbard, clearly illustrate what a solid musician and composer he was.
|
![]() | At Last by Gene Harris With Scott Hamilton
Buy new: $10.99 / Used from: $3.59 This Gene Harris and Scott Hamilton album is one of the best of both of their careers. Great ensemble playing and improvisations. Definitely worth aquiring.
|
![]() | Checkmate by Shelly Manne
Buy new: $10.99 / Used from: $6.88 Shelly Manne and His Men have put out some very good albums, but "Checkmate" is one of my favorites. Russ Freeman, Conte Candoli, and Richie Kamuca are criminally underrated jazz musicians.
|
![]() | Tempus Fugit by Stan Getz
Buy used from: $6.32 This is one of my favorite Stan Getz albums that I have only discovered a few months ago. It's absolutely amazing.
|
![]() | The Ballad Style of Stan Kenton by Stan Kenton
Buy used from: $21.22 Probably one of the better Kenton albums I've heard. All the songs are very well done. Stan Kenton was ahead of his time and this recording is one of my favorites.
