![]() | Idle Hands
Buy new: $8.99 / Used from: $1.97 EVIL DEAD 2 meets every stoner comedy ever made. This movie falls somewhere between SCREAM and SCARY MOVIE, yet sometimes I found it funnier than either.

![]() | The Comebacks
Buy new: $13.49 / Used from: $0.01 Let's get a few things straight, okay? I walked out of EPIC MOVIE and constantly pine for the days of good spoofs to return. I found THE COMEBACKS to be a definite step forward, not backward, as it had actual JOKES and MOCKED formulas, didn't just repeat scenes from movies the whole way through.

![]() | Sour Grapes
Buy used from: $0.23 Roger Ebert gave it zero stars, saying "I can't easily remember a film I've enjoyed less." What separates this movie from comedies that want to be dark and end up simply unfunny is that Larry David (one of the funniest writers around) somehow keeps things light while incorporating jokes about deathly illness, castration, racism, and even some good old-fashioned attempted murder.

![]() | Grandma's Boy (Unrated Edition)
Buy new: $10.49 / Used from: $2.32 A monkey drives a car in this, people. A guy buys a lion. Doris Roberts, Shirley Jones, & Shirley Knight get stoned and watch Spanish TV. Nick Swardson loses his virginity to Jones, who once pleasured Charlie Chaplin ("was he silent?"). I will defend this movie to the grave.

![]() | Dead Man on Campus
Buy used from: $2.89 There are witty, smart comedies that incorporate death like A FISH CALLED WANDA (and to a lesser extent SOUR GRAPES... I'm not comparing the two, okay?), then there's dumb comedies at least written by smart people (Mike White, of ORANGE COUNTY and SCHOOL OF ROCK) like DEAD MAN ON CAMPUS. Some people eat bugs! Ewww!
|
![]() | Weekend at Bernie's
Buy new: $11.49 / Used from: $2.98 This is probably on most people's guilty pleasures list, as it is in the popular spectrum of comedies. I like comedies about death way too much, huh?

![]() | National Lampoon's Van Wilder
Buy new: $14.49 / Used from: $0.01 One man, two words: Ryan Reynolds. The only thing that saves this movie from the AMERICAN PIE PRESENTS/ every other NATIONAL LAMPOON movie made since 1990 school is Reynolds as the title role, whose every facial expression and witty line earns the movie an extra star or two.

![]() | McHale's Navy (1997)
Buy used from: $4.21 Have you ever seen French Stewart and Bruce Campbell in a bar brawl together? I have. How about Tim Curry killing someone for bringing him the wrong lunch? You poor thing.
|
![]() | National Lampoon's Loaded Weapon 1
Buy used from: $1.94 The best ZAZ comedy not made by any of its members, LOADED WEAPON is a departure from the Lampoon's usually darker humor, but I always get a good laugh from this one. The convenience store opening alone is classic.

![]() | RV (Widescreen Edition)
Buy new: $13.49 / Used from: $0.65 Oh, here it is. My friend had free tickets to see this. The only reason I went, pinky swear. I hadn't laughed at a Robin Williams movie since, oh I don't know, MRS. DOUBTFIRE? Then it happened. I was laughing at RV, even ENJOYING it. The missing VACATION film has been found, and I'm afraid it's quite funny.
