Libeled LadyLibeled Lady
Buy new: $17.99 / Used from: $3.85
A funny movie, Libeled Lady relegates Spencer Tracy to a more secondary role to William Powell. Fortunately, he has great chemistry with his fellow actors and remains a memorable part of the movie.
Boom TownBoom Town
Buy new: $17.99 / Used from: $4.88
This movie is much less exciting. He plays with three huge name stars, but the plot is so drawn-out that it is very difficult to care much about what is happening on screen.
Captains CourageousCaptains Courageous
Buy new: $5.79 / Used from: $5.56
Spencer gives a standout performance in this movie. His curly hair and accent are not overdone, so his character is believable and lovable. A powerful movie.
Adam's RibAdam's Rib

This was the first time I had seen a movie with Spencer Tracy and Katharine Hepburn. I frankly didn't sense the chemistry between them and wasn't very impressed by the story either.
Boys TownBoys Town
Buy new: $5.79 / Used from: $2.37
Boys Town and Men of Boys Town are rightfully considered to be top-notch movies. Tracy gives a performance similar to Pat O'Brien's in Angels With Dirty Faces. He is sensitive and loving.
Mannequin (1938) [VHS]Mannequin (1938) [VHS]

An excellent romantic vehicle, Tracy is wonderful as Joan Crawford's love interest. He is attractive and genuine; Mannequin is a very good movie.
Riff Raff (1935) [VHS]Riff Raff (1935) [VHS]

Again paired with Jean Harlow, Spencer Tracy cries the plea of the working man, even to his own detriment. This is less of a classic than some of his other movies, but it is still enjoyable.
Test Pilot [VHS]Test Pilot [VHS]

A better pairing with Clark Gable, Tracy's character shows shades of subtle homosexuality. A difficult part to play well, Spencer Tracy does it. After all, he was one of the most respected MGM actors for a reason.
A Guy Named Joe [VHS]A Guy Named Joe [VHS]
Buy used from: $8.98
A sweet movie, Spencer Tracy's perspective provides most of the story. He dies and is called to help the lives of others. His character isn't perfect, but he is likable, and he makes him believable.
