Great ensemble cast in martial film noir dodgy doings - both Chris Cooper and Pierce Brosnan are superb and equally countered by the gorgeous and talented Rachel McAdams and Patricia Clarkson. Beautifully filmed too. Very Shawshank looking on Blu Ray. 3 very clever alternate endings. See review...

When the Italians get it right - my God do they get it right! Two brothers with wildly differing political views grow from boys into men with all the consequences. Funny, literate and moving.

At times it's infuriatingly navel-gazing, but then there's people interaction that simply blows you away. A Sean Penn movie - that's enough for most movie lovers. More moving than I thought it would be.

Beatles songs made into a story and sung in wildly differing styles - brave, daring, genius at times - even the big star cameos are brilliant. Could have been a disaster and it isn't. Loved it. Also beautiful to see and hear on Blu Ray.

You can see why David Cronenberg chose Viggo Mortensen - you just can't take your eyes off him - compelling like De Niro has always been. Vincent Cassel, Armen Mueller-Stahl, Naomi Watts - all superb too. "Leon" violent at times, but still brilliant.

Fishermen in macho outback Australia do something incredibly cavalier on a fishing trip that brings the media, town and wives down on them. Dark & difficult. Gabriel Byrne and Laura Linney are fantastic.

Two Dublin paraplegics fall for the same lovely nurse Romola Garai - both James McAvoy & Steven Robertson are sensational as the physically challenged, but mentally alive pair. Brilliant little movie. I couldn't believe McAvoy's Dublin accent - so spot on - I'd no idea he's Scottish til I looked at the special features...

I can't be rational about the truly wonderful and surreal Bubba Ho-Tep. It's a peach. Elvis hasn't died - he's living in a retirement home in Texas where a 3000-year old Egyptian mummy is stalking the loopy residents. Inventive, ball-breakingly funny and a truly touching turn by Bruce Campbell as the aged King. Ossie Davis tells us he's "JFK". Buy it now! In my top 25 films of all time...
