![]() | The Searchers (Two-Disc Anniversary Edition)
Buy new: $25.49 / Used from: $5.00 Probably the best John Wayne western. I heard he liked this role more than any other. A former Confederate searches years for a niece kidnapped by the Indians. Like most Wayne westerns, the weapons post-date the time period, but the acting and diaglog are superb, before political correctness to protray the old west as it really was.

Buy new: $9.98 / Used from: $3.98 The Duke's last picture. An aging gunfighter (with clips from John Wayne's earlier westerns included at the beginning in a clever idea while Ron Howard narrates) dying of cancer, as John Wayne was at the time, comes to Carson City for a second opinion and a quiet passing. The doctor (Jimmy Stewart) persuades him to literally go out with a bang. Again, great casting for a great story.

First use of a semi-auto rifle in a western I remember seeing.
|
![]() | For A Few Dollars More
Buy new: $11.99 / Used from: $3.33 The Man With No Name actually has a name mentioned in this one. Eastwood teams with Lee Van Cleef to collect rewards on the killer of Col. Mortimer's sister and his gang. Only time I've seen a Colt Lightning slide action rifle in a movie, and it isn't used.
|
![]() | Young Guns (Special Edition)
Buy new: $7.99 / Used from: $1.49 This movie and it's sequel have more historical flaws than Planter's has peanuts, but it's a damn good western. Emilio Estevez' protrayal of Billy The Kid is fantastic, down to his laughing during everything he does. I enjoy looking at weapons in movies, to see if they are period correct as well as somewhat unique, this movie (and it's sequel) has both.
|
![]() | Barbarosa
Buy new: $13.49 / Used from: $8.80 A seemingly unlikely pairing of Willie Nelson and Gary Busey works perfectly in this off beat western. Both are on the run from family feuds, both are hunted by family members seeking thier deaths. A great and underrated movie.
