Steppenwolf Live gives you a good sense of what it was like to attend their concert back then. Steppenwolf was not only a great rocker but also a highly political group with many a lyric reflecting the days when the change was really in the air.

I ve added this as the first item, since the Beatles were way ahead of anything else in Britain or in the world at the time. In fact, they kept running ahead till their very last album. The White Album was written somewhere around the time of their return from Maharishi. It comprises of 2 discs of intense and sing-along melodies, beats and lyrics that Beatles were known for.

To me, this album is Stones at their best.

This is a great compilation of one of rock's first hard'n'heavy, as well as purputedly its first "power trio". It gives a sense of what was Cream like live, which is major, and in the studio. To get back with Cream, all i have to do is not listen to them for few months, only to come back with the new power.

Undoubtadly, one of the landmarks of modern music, Led Zeppelin I sours high and beyond to tickle your aura with great rythms, high pitched vocals, and classical compositions. In fact all of the compositions on this album has become classic

From what i understand, this may ve been the very first complete heavy album in rock's history. Indeed, "fast" "heavy", "vicious", "pumped up" are a few adjectives to describe this piece of work. Recommend for all the heavy music lovers.

Even if i would have to get this for NO NO NO, my emotions would already be satisfied. Bad enough, all songs here a great. Most have become classic in the field. The song Fireball is probably familiar from most of the "the best" com-s.

With the change of line up and emregence of a new singer by the name of David Coverdale, the Purple' music has changed too. And this album very well reflects it. The first composition Burn is heavy as hell, followed by some pretty awesome tracks like the blues Mistreated, and Lay down Stay down. Once again, the face of rock was changed forever.

Most of the early Sabbath is rock defining, i chose this one because of the dramatic change in Sabbath attitude and sound, tremendous theatrical effects, and the overall heaviness of this piece. Very heavy stuff, with beautiful compositions. Iommi is a grim as ever with the overlays by 2-3 other guitars. Cool no?

for the fans of all things genius wacky and tripped out in the most literal sense....

I don't know what these guys were into at the time, but its gonna be hard for you to find a more melodic, nostalgic, heavy, ethereal, and progressive amalgamation of melodic experimentation.
