I loved this film on so many levels. I just kept thinking how many unbelievable musicians have existed in this country who probably never even thought of recording.

This film worked on many levels. It made a case for Townes Van Zandt being a songwriter at the level of Dylan or Hank Williams. This film also tells the story of an exceptional but troubled person.

The Stanley Brothers footage sent shivers down my spine but also illustrated just how funny they likely were live. Doc Watson is great as well. Pete Seeger talks a lot.

This footage should be seen by anyone with any interest in any kind of music.

Not a particularly well-made documentary, but the footage shown really transcends the quality of the film.

Not as essential as the documentary about his life, but if you love Townes, then you can't go wrong here.

This DVD turned me on to many great blues artists. There are some very entertaining interviews too.

Unjustly maligned by a reviewer on Netflix as his early "pop-country" stuff, this is Steve Earle sounding passionate (and looking maybe a little unhealthy).

If you're like me and you kind of have a soft spot for the Dixie Chicks, then you can't go wrong with this film, which is also intersting on another level as a study of the politics of country music.

Silly but enjoyable (and thankfully short) story about a couple who book a county music show when the opera who was supposed to play backs out. The real treasure here is the performances, which include Faron Young, Lefty Frizzell, Kitty Wells, Webb Pierce, Bill Monroe, and many more. None of these artist are really in their element, it seems, but still well worth watching.
