After their untimely death, a pleasant rural couple find their home inhabited by flaky yuppies, and unwisely turn to an obnoxious, long-dead con-man to rid their former home of its new tenants. Tim Burton's second feature is extremely clever, and its set design is remarkable - a bizarre blend of industrial, funereal, futurist and art deco styles.

I wish to god that my relatives were anywhere near as cool as John Candy. John Hughes never did anything as fun as this before or since, and that's high praise. Buck Russell is my personal hero.

Despite certain exceptions, the best MST3K episodes usually hosted the worst of the movies that they riffed on, and this classic fourth-season entry is a fine example of this dynamic. Would the Master approve?
