![]() | The Good Soldier Svejk: and His Fortunes in the World War (Penguin Classics) by Jaroslav Hasek
Buy new: $10.88 / Used from: $6.71 A hilarious and often insightful story of WWI from a Czech point of view. Svejk really doesn't see the point of fighting for the Austrians against his arguably fraternal Slavs, the Russians. In the end, he probably serves his emperor about as well as his emperor ever served him. There is now a term called Svejkism, in which you genially annoy and obfuscate your enemies.
