![]() | Silver Apples/Contact by Silver Apples
Buy new: $14.99 / Used from: $5.54 2 musicians: an oscillator/synth player/lead singer (Simeon) and a drummer (Danny Taylor). They were a synth duo before such a thing existed. Dark, but not without a sense of humor. Simeon, these days, tours by himself using a drum machine in place the deceased Taylor.

![]() | White Light/White Heat by The Velvet Underground
Buy new: $8.99 / Used from: $4.44 I think I could find a reason to put this album on almost any list I'd ever compile. If you don't own this album, you're a jerk.
|
![]() | The Doors by The Doors
Buy used from: $59.27 Some of these songs have been massively overplayed, but not without good reason. Definately a Goth Oldie.
|
![]() | The Stooges by The Stooges
Buy new: $10.99 / Used from: $4.99 Iggy still had a strong Detroit accent on this influential psych/punk gem from 1969.
|
![]() | A Saucerful of Secrets by Pink Floyd
Buy new: $14.99 / Used from: $6.25 What needs to be said. Saying you like Pink Floyd is like saying you like chocolate. "Set The Controls For The Heart Of The Sun" is a prime example of Goth Oldies.
|
![]() | In the Court of the Crimson King by King Crimson
Buy new: $13.99 / Used from: $9.95 The heavy, jazzy openning track will blow you away. The remainder of the album is surprisingly mellow, and none of the other tracks compare to "21st Century Schizoid Man", though it's definately a solid album all the way through.
|
![]() | The Soft Machine by The Soft Machine
Buy used from: $5.98 Heavily electronic for 1968, and very classically influenced psych/prog.
|
![]() | The Crazy World of Arthur Brown by Arthur Brown
Buy new: $13.99 / Used from: $8.25 This is quintessential Goth Oldies, my friends. Arthur Brown was one of the first artist to feature a drum machine on an album, a few years after this. This is his debut and quite a bit differnt than anything else he did later on. It includes his only chart single, "Fire".

![]() | Electronic Meditation by Tangerine Dream
Buy used from: $85.10 The title sums it up. Essential Krautrock from 1969. The first in a long career of great album covers.
|
![]() | Led Zeppelin 1 by Led Zeppelin
Buy new: $11.99 / Used from: $1.39 Yes, Led Zeppelin. Youtube "Dazed And Confused 1968" and be amazed, again.
|
![]() | The Complete Recordings by Robert Johnson
Buy new: $14.99 / Used from: $8.96 One of the forefathers of rock n' roll. Perhaps the most essential forefather, though that's up for debate.
|
![]() | Overdose of Heavy Psych by Various Artists
Buy new: $15.99 / Used from: $34.76 Early metal, hard garage, dark psych. Essential for anyone who has a taste for hard acid rock.
|
![]() | Sea Shanties by High Tide
Buy new: $26.99 / Used from: $10.00 Obviously influenced by The Doors, at some points this stuff is surprisingly heavy for 1969. Simon House went on to play violin/electric violin with space metal legends Hawkwind (Lemmy's band before forming Motorhead) in the 70's.
|
![]() | An Electric Storm by White Noise
Buy new: $21.99 / Used from: $22.88 I used to think I knew everything about music from the 60s and 70s. Not so. I'm an ignorant jackass. I'd never even heard of this band until last year! Not your typical psych band, one of these guys actually made the music for Dr Who. Amazing how heavily electronic this was for the time.
|
![]() | The Aerosol Grey Machine by Van der Graaf Generator
Buy used from: $12.69 Gothy prog rock from 1969.
|
![]() | Trip Thru Hell by The C.A. Quintet
Buy new: $17.98 / Used from: $8.38 Kinda overlooked, very cool Doors-esque psychadelia.
