A GREAT album through and through....experimental and yet commerical at the same time. Brilliant album. 10/10

So much has been written about this masterpiece, not quite the best starting point, but still FABulous 10/10

A few mild clunkers but still a great record, it's high's are fabulous. The first not quite perfect Beatles album. 8.5/10.

Again the high points are great (Ticket to Ride is amongst their best songs). A few clunkers though. Still very much recommended or else it wouldn't make the list. 8/10

A great album even with the slight overproduction from Phil (somethign that foreshadowed the rest of John's career). Not quite as good maybe as Plastic Ono Band, but more commercial. 8.5/10.

A compilation that feels like a compilation but this includes some of their best work and is therefore absolutely essential even if it's incoherent. Rain, Paperback Writer, and We Can Work it Out all make it more than worthy. 10/10.

Shocking that it took Paul 26 years to come up with his best album, but he did. A few clunkers (I wish the Used to Be Bad/Steve Miller stuff was better). But some FABULOUS songs that outweigh the holes. A great record that challenges for best solo Beatles record. I rediscovered this in my collection recently and love it more than ever! 8/10.

GREATNESS meets pretentiousness meets religion. One of the best albums in the entire greater Beatles cannon, but at times very overproduced and the "jams" are utterly forgettable. Still a 10/10 and in my top 40 ever made--aka better than some of the above but more eclectic! still a 10/10.

Still a better buy than the "naked" album....Spectorized to the extreme but to the benefit of these shoddier sessions. This one has some fabulous moments and is essential. 8/10.

A solid album full of many of Paul's best (even the loads of filler are at least enjoyable)....too crispy cleanly produced though...but one of Paul's best and for its high points essential. 8/10.

Not quite a perfect record, but definitely the only other essential George album. George is actually in great voice and his songwriting is very solid. More essential than any of the Wilburies stuff or the hodge podge post All things solo career....now if they could just get him a good greatest hits to cover that period....Dark Horse Years is terrible. 8/10.

His best compilation. John had enough good moments in the post Imagine era to make a greatest hits essential....and I think he could have gotten back on track without his untimely death....but his mid 70's-end career was ultimately much much much better than Paul's.....8.5/10

My next to last of the essential Beatles--of course you could collect more for megafans, but this is enough. Ringo had enough decent/solid moments to give him a rare recommendation. At least 10 fun classics on here and nothing is really bad at all. It's actually one of the better Beatle Comps. Ringo now can get a little credit for his heavily helped solo career. Buy with confidence. 8/10

It's so dirt cheap that it can be essential even if 50% of it is fluff that shouldn't be forgotten, this has enough to make a more than 1 cd decent/classic mix. I like the non-hits disc much more than the hits, but they both have more than enough blah moments/flaws. If the price goes higher than $15 though, I'd say forget this one. 7/10
