Saving Private Ryan [Blu-ray]Saving Private Ryan [Blu-ray]
This is quite simply the greatest war movie ever made. It was emotionally devastating when I first saw it and it has lost none of its power since then.

This movie changed the rules for animated films. It would be significant if for no other reason than that. It also happens to be one fantastic piece of art.

Paul Thomas Anderson's epic journey through the porn industry of the 1970's is full of vivid details and is bristling with life. The characters are presented as fragile human beings who are neither praised or condemmed. A fascinating work.

Tom Cruise gives his best performance in this superb effort from Cameron Crowe, and he still gets overshadowed by Renee Zelwegger, Cuba Gooding Jr. and Jonathon Lipinski. A great film about love and redemption.

Frank Darabont adapts Stephen King's short story and turns it into a fully realized, emotionally rich drama about a wrongly imprisoned man who refuses to be a victim to his circumstances. The rewatchability factor of this one is amazing.

Talk about a polarizing film, and understandibly so. David Fincher's violent and out-there film defintely strikes a nerve with many viewers. For me, it's a riveting experience with one heck of a twist ending.

Don't be fooled by this seemingly simple tale of one man's journey via a riding lawnmower to visit his estranged brother. David Lynch's tale is lyrical and moving without ever resorting to cheap sentiment. Richard Farnsworth is simply amazing.

The film that made Quentin Tarantino a household name. This is one darkly comic, ultra-violent, nhillistic gem. If there is an emptiness at it's center, that may be Tarantino's point.

There was no way Speilberg was going to mess up this one. Working with a fervor and dedication that he had never before displayed, he delivered one of the most haunting portraits of the Holocaust ever seen.
