Val Lewton is little known today, but he was a great producer who created a number of fantastic films. I Walked with a Zombie is a tale of voodoo and zombies set against a backdrop of a dysfunctional family with terrible secrets in the closet--jelousy, murder, slavery--with a tremendous voodoo dance scene at the end. The Body Snatcher is great too, dark and sinister, Karloff is show stopping.

Price is a classic actor and cripples anything Will Smith has done (remake I Am Legend). Fantastic movie about earths last surviver beseiged by vampires when the sun goes down. Your sence of isolation and helplessness will soar in this one.

Everyone has seen this, but its the best in the catagory. Both visual and audio elements are exploited to the max to create an atmosphere of the bizarre. Some deep ideas about personal spiritual dillema.

Its not gory, and a bit slow, but it is the classic Dracula. Bela's portrayal of the count stands to this day as the common perception of what Dracula looks and acts like. Worth it just for Legosi.

Comedy, true, but a great horror film, too. That Klopek family is creepy to the bone and its setting in America suburbia brings it home for a lot of folks. Dern steals the movie as crazy vet, as well as Gibson as the Doctor Klopek.

Innovative, about a boy who thinks he's a vampire. No easy way to look at this film--pseudo-vampirism a parallel to americas urban decline of the 1970's for sure, but how you read into all the various symbolic elements will be up to the individual. Truelly surprising end!

Haunted Hill is superbly led by Vincent Price. A great ghost film, Castles use of the house is grade A in building parranormal suspence. Story of 7 people locked for a night in allegedly haunted house creates grand feelings of isolation and terror. Horror Hotel is about a small New England town whose inhabitants practice the dark arts of satanic ritual and sacrifice.

Townspeople are infected by government experiment. Once infected they wig-out and turn into crazy murderers. Cool movie all around with typical Romero gore.

Without Wood, we would not have a lot great film makers who decided to follow suit and make movies on small budgets with few extravegant perks. A bad film, its fun to watch and in all truth, with a little imagination, its really not bad.

Its been a long time since i've seen it, and honestly, I can't remember why I liked it, but I know I did. I'll have to catch it again.

A missing girl, a dedicated cop, an isolated island in Scotland, and a people practicing pagan rites sets the scene for this one. A gem. Ending will leave you shocked for quite a while.

Hmm...this is probally the last place in the world you want to find yourself, because if you are, then you'll be at the mercy of this deranged family of cannibals. Talk about having to fight for your life!

A bit silly here and there, but a good movie with great atmosphere. Four people take over a haunted house in order to drive off its many demons, but there is a twist at the end. Great dialoge from wife possessed by orgy driven demon!

Cool movie based on Poe. Very well shot, its not for everybody, just fans of old film.
