Norwegian WoodNorwegian Wood by Haruki Murakami
Buy new: $10.04 / Used from: $3.90
My friend Jesse (Also known as the talented rapper/producer/nice guy N.E.M.C) gave me this book for my birthday a couple years ago. Murakami explores love and suicide in a way that is neither overly sentimental or too sad.

BREAKFAST OF CHAMPIONSBREAKFAST OF CHAMPIONS by Kurt Vonnegut Jr.
Buy used from: $1.00
One time, the best book of all time was written. It looked like this. <------------
Punk LandPunk Land by Carlton Mellick III
Buy new: $12.55 / Used from: $7.49
Using the visual writing format of Breakfast of Champions, Carlton Mellick III tells a clever story of where punk kids go to when they die. He also explains that even in the afterlife corporations can ruin everything. I mean, any book where the protagonist gets kicked out of heaven for throwing a dildo at G-D is worth taking a look at.
Good Omens: The Nice and Accurate Prophecies of Agnes Nutter, WitchGood Omens: The Nice and Accurate Prophecies of Agnes Nutter, Witch by Neil Gaiman
Buy used from: $15.73
Hitchhikers guide to the rapture.
Runaways Vol. 1: Pride and JoyRunaways Vol. 1: Pride and Joy by Brian K Vaughan
Buy new: $7.99 / Used from: $1.30
Brian K. Vaughan is in my very not so humble opinion, the best comic writer still actively writing (Alan Moore and Gaiman are great, amazing even but not really making a lot ot comics). The plot of this: Take a bunch of kids, let them find out their parents are evil (and not redeemable evil either), give some of them powers and believable voices.
The Elementary ParticlesThe Elementary Particles by Michel Houellebecq
Buy new: $10.17 / Used from: $2.75
Pretty sure this dude hates the world. Makes pretty damn amazing books though.
DJ Shadow's Endtroducing... (33 1/3)DJ Shadow's Endtroducing... (33 1/3) by Eliot Wilder
Buy new: $9.31 / Used from: $5.06
Endtroducing is basically the record that got me wanting to make beats. This is a nerdy in depth look at the making of it.

To Kill a MockingbirdTo Kill a Mockingbird by Harper Lee

The ACME Novelty Library #16The ACME Novelty Library #16 by Chris Ware
Buy used from: $103.84
Ware starts a new saga off, with the saga of Rusty Brown. Not exactly a barrel of laughing bunnies, but good all the same.
Trick BabyTrick Baby by Iceberg Slim
Buy new: $7.99 / Used from: $4.96
Mr. Iceberg Slim ridiculously amazing name aside, wrote great stories of tragic characters. His enemies called him trick baby, his friends called him White Folks. A child of mixed heritage grows up to be a hustler to be reckoned with.
Master of Space and TimeMaster of Space and Time by Rudy Rucker
Buy new: $12.71 / Used from: $1.77
Quirky sci-fi about controlling reality. Read this before Michel Gondry makes a film about this. By the way, he probably will.
AqueminiAquemini by OutKast
Buy new: $8.98 / Used from: $2.91
Not a book but the Greatest album of all time. Word

Buy used from: $2.92
Gotta include one of my mom's books. She authored me, so you know she's a good author. Her and her friend Norine interviewed a bunch of women about amazing and horrible encounters with the XY contingent of our species. You'll peep that my pops (R.I.P.) gets two tales of positive amazingness! He co-authored me too, so you know he was a good dude.
Cockpit (Kosinski, Jerzy)Cockpit (Kosinski, Jerzy) by Jerzy Kosinski
Buy new: $10.20 / Used from: $0.82
Pretty sure Chuck Pahlnakookadoodle read a lot of this dude. Amazing stuff.
Being ThereBeing There
Buy used from: $8.55
Not a book, a movie based on a book. You ask; Scott, why the movie you recommend and not the book? My answer: Jersey Kosinski who wrote the book, wrote the screenplpay for this Hal Ashby directed film. In his screenplay he was able to bind the story better. It also doesn't hurt that the amazing Peter Sellers' performance is one of his best.
Scott Pilgrim, Vol. 1: Scott Pilgrim's Precious Little LifeScott Pilgrim, Vol. 1: Scott Pilgrim's Precious Little Life by Bryan Lee O'Malley
Buy new: $8.60 / Used from: $7.00
Egotism made me check out this book (a book about a musician named Scott), quality storytelling and video game references made me keep on checking it out.
Feeding EinsteinFeeding Einstein by Junk Science
Buy new: $13.98 / Used from: $7.67
Again, not a book. But, you could say Junk Science wrote the book on good records of 2005.
