![]() | The Historian by Elizabeth Kostova
Buy new: $10.87 / Used from: $0.01 They search for Dracula, but have no real proof he survived all the way to the 21st century. Ending felt rushed. Goes on way too long, but is a little like a much better written, supernatural version on Da Vinci Code.
![]() | The Source for Nonverbal Learning Disorders by Sue Thompson
Buy used from: $53.00 Someone I know has this. Don't worry- there's only one of these.
![]() | The Opal Deception (Artemis Fowl, Book 4) by Eoin Colfer
Buy new: $11.53 / Used from: $0.01 Not his best book, but still worth a read.
![]() | Slaughterhouse-Five by Kurt Vonnegut
Buy new: $7.99 / Used from: $0.99 **ONLY READ THE FOLLOWING IF YOU'VE READ THIS**
Ok, so at one point Billy says he only cheated on his wife once, and goes on to describe it. Ok? But then he also says he was abducted by the aliens BEFORE his wife's death. And we know he sleeps with <strike>Anne Heche</strike> Montana while with the aliens on their planet. So does that prove that the aliens really weren't real?
![]() | The Lost Colony (Artemis Fowl, Book 5) by Eoin Colfer
Buy new: $11.53 / Used from: $0.21 Somewhere midway through this novel, it reminds me why it's considered an alternative to Harry Potter. Quite possibly his best book yet.
![]() | The Witching Hour (Lives of the Mayfair Witches) by Anne Rice
Buy new: $7.99 / Used from: $0.01 The first few pages are bad- but then it becomes really, really good. And then- to my utter despair, at least- it turns into a history lesson several hundred pages long.
This is how I got through it:
Rowan= Janet
Michael= Brad
Lasher= Rocky
![]() | The Virgin Blue: A Novel by Tracy Chevalier
Buy new: $9.89 / Used from: $0.01 Though the 1st chapter is depressing as hell, the novel carries on beautifully (and horrifically) to the end.
![]() | Trickster's Choice (Daughter of the Lioness Book 1) by Tamora Pierce
Buy new: $12.21 / Used from: $0.01 I love Tamora Pirce again, and am going to pretend the Immortals series never happened.
![]() | The Golden Bowl (Penguin Classics) by Henry James
Buy new: $10.20 / Used from: $0.01 I only got in a 160 pages before I lost it...but NOTHING happened during them, and, AND there's an American, Italian Princess named Maggie who lives in Britain....SO THERE! It totally counts. (I may yet finish it someday)
![]() | Lisey's Story by Stephen King
Buy used from: $0.01 Ironically, very similar to "Dogs of Babel", but also very good on its own. There are too many similarities to count for only 400 characters, so I won't write them...but readers who liked one, may very well like the other. Flashes back repeatedly to the month of my birth, so it fufills my selfish whims quota.
![]() | Letters from Father Christmas, Revised Edition by J.R.R. Tolkien
Buy used from: $24.00 I read this while sleeping over my friend's house. This is really only for people who were/are as obsessed with J.R.R. Tolkien as we were once were, but it's pretty brilliant and pretty f***ing humorous if you ask me.
![]() | God Bless You, Dr. Kevorkian by Kurt Vonnegut Jr.
Buy new: $9.95 / Used from: $2.50 For my college essay, I wrote that despite being an athiest I think the person I'd find most interesting to have lunch with (or dinner, however that question goes) would be Jesus. This is for people like me (and people not at all like me too- I'm just selifish like).
![]() | Hocus Pocus by Kurt Vonnegut
Buy new: $7.99 / Used from: $0.01 In my opinion this goes on too long, but I still liked it anyways, because damnit the Trafalmodians make as much sense as any other religion to me, and he quotes a Playboy review on the back of the book.
![]() | The Nanny Diaries: A Novel by Emma Mclaughlin
Buy new: $11.92 / Used from: $0.01 I thought this be cheesy air-filled chick-lit crap that'd be a fitting break from the more serious books I'd read recently. But instead, these 2 authors have convinced me they hate rich people and rich people suck more than even Vonnegut's character in "Hocus Pocus" does (THAT IS HOW DEPRESSING THIS BOOK IS!) It's also pretty air and crap filled too.
![]() | After the King: Stories In Honor of J.R.R. Tolkien
Buy new: $21.99 / Used from: $0.17 If I had to point out a flaw, it would only be that the stories didn't seem very well edited (mistakes like 'every more' instead of 'ever more' and some such). But other than that the stories were really, really, really good and I definitly recomend this.
![]() | Kill Two Birds & Get Stoned: A Novel by Kinky Friedman
Buy new: $11.89 / Used from: $0.79 I LOVED this (why was this removed, amazon??)
![]() | Specimen Days: A Novel by Michael Cunningham
Buy new: $11.90 / Used from: $0.01 I totally loved this too. I have feeling it isn't going to leave me for a long time, and I only wish I could discuss it with someone who's read it Michael Cunningham is superb. Also: looks a lot like Will Ferrel upside down.
![]() | Trickster's Queen (Aliane) by Tamora Pierce
Buy new: $8.95 / Used from: $0.26 A better sequel I'd be hard-put to find. (though I really wish there was more)
![]() | Number9Dream by David Mitchell
Buy new: $10.17 / Used from: $3.14 A weird, weird book that took me forever to finish.
![]() | The Time Traveler's Wife by Audrey Niffenegger
Buy new: $8.52 / Used from: $1.98 A Good read (tho wtf is up with me reading books that profile the marriage of fictional artists...the mask maker in 'Dogs of Babel' the writer in 'Lisey's Story' and now this. They're all good unique books, but they are starting to blend together).
![]() | The Girls' Guide to Hunting and Fishing by Melissa Bank
Buy new: $10.08 / Used from: $0.01 Had a few weird stories...one told from and about completly different people then the rest and one told in second-person pov with no names given. But other than that, I actually really liked this. MUCH better as a chick-lit read than "The Nanny Diaries"
![]() | The Robber Bride by Margaret Atwood
Buy new: $10.20 / Used from: $0.78 I didn't particularly like this book and kinda wish I'd never read it, but it wasn't "The Bluest Eye" either- I don't roughe the day I ever laid eyes on it.
![]() | Darkly Dreaming Dexter by Jeff Lindsay
Buy new: $10.08 / Used from: $2.61 It's certainly interesting, but having watched the series I couldn't help but feeling more was missing.

![]() | Vamped: A Novel by David Sosnowski
Buy new: $11.11 / Used from: $0.01 A clever, CRAZY and cute tale of a world run by vampires.
![]() | Confessions of an Ugly Stepsister: A Novel by Gregory Maguire
Buy new: $10.88 / Used from: $0.97 Its worth it for the ending- not only the epilogue which will break your heart- but the whole devasting climax of the Cinderella rewrite.
![]() | How to Defend Yourself Against Alien Abduction by Ann Druffel
Buy new: $17.10 / Used from: $3.35 borrowed this from a friend, will finish it when I meet up with her again.
