Carson was definitely my all-time fave TV star and personality. I still miss him. Even in high school, I'd stay up late and watch EVERY night. Love the available preserved clips. Hope they release more and stop just repackaging the same ones.

Also noteworthy for its on-location filming in exotic parts of the world and its ethno-jazzy flavored soundtrack. Culp and Cosby had the best onscreen chemistry of any duo, period. Including Tracy & Hepburn, William Powell/Myrna Loy, Ted Danson & Shelley Long, Van Dyke & MTM, and Ed Asner & MTM.

A rarity:a series that seemed to improve every season of its eight. Mary remains my favorite actress,and in this series she was consistently superb at both comedy and drama.

Van Dyke and again Mary Tyler Moore with a great cast of second, third and fourth bananas. Van Dyke is unparalleled in combining physical and verbal comedy, excelling in both.

Episodes you can enjoy again and again. Especially since they're available daily again and again.

Chosen only to rep the two series Fernwood2Nite and sequel America2Nite,unavailable on Amazon, though can be found elsewhere. Martin Mull and Fred Willard shine in funny sketches which mocks TV talk shows. Especially remarkable when it was churned out daily, not weekly. Alan Thicke was key writer and producer.

Only the James Garner episodes shine(3 of series' 5 years).Don't stand up to repeat viewings too well, being somewhat plot-driven. so once you know the story.... but Garner's charm prevails. Still love the musical theme too.

The only variety series I've included here. Dean Martin was such a winning personality. And he had high calibre guests.

Ssneaking in one more variety show.I loved the Smothers Brothers and still do, despite their politics. I wish more routines were preserved on video, rather than preoccupation with their censorship issues. Tommie's a hoot. UPDATE: Season 3 recently released. Episodes usually have an opening Smothers routine. WELCOME!!! Previous two seasons to be released later???

This was a quality series. Alex Keaton was a memorable character. Contrasting his youthful conservative Republican views with the lib views of his parents was entertaining observant comedy. Michael J. Fox shone.

Deliciously wicked cynical Canadian satire set in a TV newsroom. Ken Finkleman (one of the writers of Airplane 2) stars, writes and produces. Two incarnations 1996 and 2004.

Heresy, I know, but I truly believe he's a superior visual comedian to Chaplin and Keaton. So stone me.

Jim Rockford was somewhat of a Bret Maverick clone and the 'pretty girl/car chase' gets tiresome, but after you lower your expectations, the series is good company.

I'm just using this selection because there isn't one for Will Hutchins' later short-lived Norman Lear series 'Hey Landlord' with stand-up comic Sandy Baron. I thought it was pretty good while it lasted. I have seen it available on DVD occasionally.
