By an Amazon.com customer
The Thing (Collector's Edition)The Thing (Collector's Edition)
Buy new: $9.99 / Used from: $4.07
John Carpenter's re-imagining of the 1951 film "The Thing From Another World" is simply one of the best horror films ever made. Rob Bottin's brilliant FX alone will blow your a-hole into next year.
The Ring (Widescreen Edition)The Ring (Widescreen Edition)
Buy new: $9.49 / Used from: $0.01
Although part of me hates this movie because it pretty much started the whole "let's remake EVERY Asian horror movie!" craze, this movie scared the living sh_t out of me! I'm sure many will disagree with me, but I think this is much scarier than the origninal Japanese "Ringu".
Evil Dead IIEvil Dead II
Buy new: $8.99 / Used from: $3.31
A bigger budget helped Evil Dead 2 become an outragous, gory, and hilarious horror classic. Evil Dead 2 propelled Bruce (Ash) Campbell into B-movie superstardom forever.
The Fly (Two-Disc Collector's Edition)The Fly (Two-Disc Collector's Edition)
Buy new: $16.49 / Used from: $7.74
David Cronenberg turned the Vincent Price classic into a disgusting, twisted, sci-fi/horror love story... and I love it!
Aliens (Two-Disc Collector's Edition)Aliens (Two-Disc Collector's Edition)
Buy new: $17.49 / Used from: $2.38
James Cameron's sequel to "Alien" is a little less horror, with a little more action than Riddly Scott's original, but it still dishes out it's share of scares. A great sequel.
28 Weeks Later (Widescreen Edition)28 Weeks Later (Widescreen Edition)
Buy new: $14.98 / Used from: $1.97
Although I like parts the first movie, "28 Days Later" a lot, I found the movie as a whole to be very dissapointing. I went into this sequel with an open mind, and it blew me away! One of the best sequels I have ever seen!
Dawn of the Dead (Widescreen Unrated Director's Cut)Dawn of the Dead (Widescreen Unrated Director's Cut)
Buy new: $8.99 / Used from: $0.96
Zack Snyder took George Romero's classic zombies and made them faster, scarier, and even more vicious.
The Devil's Rejects (Unrated Widescreen Edition)The Devil's Rejects (Unrated Widescreen Edition)
Buy new: $11.49 / Used from: $1.94
Like "Aliens", this psuedo-sequel to "House of 1,000 Corpses" is a little less horror than it's predecessor, but it is gory, sadistic, and a much better movie. Rob Zombie's best film by far.
Hostel - Part II (Unrated Widescreen Edition)Hostel - Part II (Unrated Widescreen Edition)
Buy new: $11.99 / Used from: $0.59
Although the Hostel films often get lumped into the category of "torture-porn", both films have much more to them. Hostel 2 in particular is a tension-filled ride which cautions that you should probably spend less time worring about possible foreign threats when there might be more danger right next door...
Wes Craven's New NightmareWes Craven's New Nightmare
Buy new: $9.98 / Used from: $0.90
Athough it is not technically a part of the "Nightmare On Elm Street" series, Wes Craven's return to Freddy Krueger is very inventive and deserves credit. This movie stripped Freddy of his laughable, cult-icon status and made him scary again... almost.
The Texas Chainsaw MassacreThe Texas Chainsaw Massacre
Buy new: $11.49 / Used from: $0.01
I love the original and I expected to hate this remake. But obviously, I didn't. This is a very violent, suspenseful, remake that even spawned a pretty good prequel of it's own.(The Texas Chainsaw Massacre: the Beginning)
Funny Games (2008)Funny Games (2008)
Buy new: $22.49 / Used from: $2.45
Director Michael Haneke's shot for shot remake of his own Austrian film is one of the most disturbing films I have seen in recent years.
The Hills Have Eyes (Unrated Edition)The Hills Have Eyes (Unrated Edition)
Buy new: $11.99 / Used from: $0.99
This remake of Wes Craven's 1977 film is a brutal good time for pretty much any horror fan... as long as they pay no attention to it's extremely dissapointing sequel...
