This is one of my all time favorite animations as it was extremely creative with an amazingly deep storyline that combines alternate worlds, personal loss, and spirit animals. Get the DVD if you can find it.

This is the original Heavy Metal movie which combines the great sounds of Journey, the voice of John Candy and other celebs of the 80s. Each of the 3 stories is wonderfully weaved in a classic tale of good vs evil with a lot of unpredictable fun along the way. Makes you want to say "dude". This is classic and a must-watch.

The series is not bad but the movie is still the ultimate. Because the original was such a hit, you have to be careful about knock-off series that were not made the original creators.

I think either you love this or you don't. The jazz music is simply fantastic as well as the quirky characters and storylines. Really well-written and animated. Just talking about it makes me want to re-watch the series. It's that good. The movie was so so. The only gripe is that they didn't properly resolve the end stories on Spike.

I went into this series a bit skeptical as it's produced by nickelodeon and the animation looks a bit kiddish, but boy was I wrong. I was hooked throughout the entire collection. It felt kind of like the Band of Brothers of animation where you grow with the characters. Smart writing and good character development. Night M. Shamalayan (director of 6th Sense) is directing the live action version.

If you grew up watching this movie, you're probably like me. It won't make a whole lot of sense unless you're high with its nazi references, voluptuous princesses, and cranky wizards but it makes you feel nostalgic in a Heavy Metal kind of way. Made in 1977, the animation is entertaining as it combines several different styles of animation and live action war footage.
